I got these boots delivered, but they were too big. The sizing on Salomon boots are a challenge to say the least. These boots are super stiff, more than any non-hardboot I've ever seen, The lacing system was quick and very easy to get a snug tie. I returned these for another size and will update when I get them on the mountain.
Great big mountain boot

These boots where comport able from the first day which is hard to find in a stiff boot. All of the features on this boot serve a purpose mainly the heel strap, which really works to hold your heal down comfortabley and doesn't cut off any circulation. So far very happy with my first pair of solomon boots!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Malamutes are great boots. They are extremely comfortable yet very stiff. They can turn any board and help to create very quick edge to edge response. Only downfall of these boots is that they do not have shrinkage technology like some other boots; such as the Burton Driver X.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: overall boot footprint, no shrinkage tech.
Best boots ever

Been eying these boots for awhile. Pulled the trigger when the Great Outdoors store in Bend had their 40% everything sale last yr. Pros: very warm, stiff, great traction Cons: slight pinch on the heel, stiff Overall, worth the money, I expect it to last at least 2 yrs for me. Its stiff but I use it for an all around boot.Pros: Build quality, Performance

I am currently shopping for my 3rd generation of Salomon Malamutes. My first pair was a touch small back in 2004, but sufficed. My second pair (2008) is about 50 hard Wasatch days old and still look good, but my narrow foot is starting to move around now that the liner is starting to pack out. I have never had my feet get cold with just a thin pair of wool snowboard socks on, even when it was -4F at the base. These boots are fantastically stiff for superior hold on high speed runs down some of steeps we have around here. I would highly recommend this boot to intermediate/advanced riders looking for more control.
