Description

With a carbon fiber stringers and honeycomb Ghost XLT construction, Salomon Snowboards XLT Snowboard is the lightest deck in the 2012/13 line up. This featherweight board has excellent snap and high energy for easy short-radius turns. Ideal for sidecountry forays when you don't want the drag along extra pounds, this board also excels in where you need a stable platform in deep snow and enough backbone to plow through crud. Likes to go Fast

I'm a higher speed cruiser who stays on the ground and out of the parks. My last board was the Salomon Loft 160, and it was probrably my favorite board to date for carving, so I figured the XLT 159 would be a good move. It does have great edge to edge transition and holds nice long carves very well, but it is stiffer than its predecessor and requires more speed. This can be somewhat of a problem on short Michigan runs, but it would be great out west on the long cruisers (haven't taken it out yet). I'm sure it's not the best board for the softer stuff, but I would recommend it if you like to go fast on the groomed and hard pack. It's definitely not for beginners.
