Salomon Men's Rivertrek Mid GTX

When the weather and travel conditions are a little uncertain, the Salomon Rivertrek Mid GTX X-mountain boot for men is just what you need to quell any fears. A blended upper of split suede leather, synthetic leather, and water resistant textile is lined with waterproof breathable GORE-TEX® membrane in a full bootie construction for premium foot protection. This lightweight design also incorporates a gusseted tongue to enhance water tightness. A die-cut EVA sockliner and molded midsole combine for optimum cushion, while a textile lining enhances comfort. The non-marking Contagrip® outsole provides exceptional and durable traction for all-terrain confidence.

Great for Avg. Hiker
Great boot for the price. These are my second pair, First pair still being used but starting to break down after 18 months. They are water proof and the break-in is fast and painless. Not top of the line but overall a pretty good boot for the price range

Great shoes!!
Actually, to be truthful, I have never worn this particular pair. They are a second pair I bought so I'd have a new pair to bring out when my first pair wears out in a year or two (Love these shoes so much that I thought I'd better buy another pair because I knew they wouldn't be available in a year or two). I bought my first pair, used, from Geartrade only about a week before I ordered this pair from Altrec. I wear my Rivertreks all the time at work. I work at a nursery and am constantly getting them wet. Feet always stay dry. Also love the look of the shoes and they are very comfortable. I love Salomon shoes, have about 4 or 5 other models. Never bought a shoe that I didn't have to break in. All of my Salomons have been comfortable the first time I put them on. I'm just writing this review now. I actually ordered/received the shoes back in late September. Believe it or not, I'm actually going to order a third pair right now because the price has gone down and I'll be guaranteed to have a replacement pair for a couple years. I love these shoes!!

Incredible boot
I rarely wear a hiking boot, preferring high-end shoes instead for their weight and comfort. But I needed waterproof boots for a 3-week adventure on the Yukon River, hiking in wet conditions near the Arctic circle and muddy conditions north of Vancouver, B.C. These boots were the lightest I have ever worn. They were also very flexible and super comfortable, which is critical for me, since I am a pro photographer. And they stayed dry while others complained of wet feet.

More ankle support, comfortable, but heavier than normal
These are lightweight, but not as light as regular hiking shoes. They do offer more ankle support though. The insole is very thin and I recommend it is replaced for more comfort. Good compared to other options in this price-range/category.

Light and comfy
After hiking the past two weekends with the Rivertrek Mid GTX, I look forward to wearing these shoes. I'm very impressed with the traction and all around stability. They are very lightweight, breathable, and fun to wear all day.

Wet Pants, Dry Feet
Recently I visited Glacier National Park for some hiking and backpacking and they were like wearing clouds on my feet. I've owned many pairs of Salomon XA Pro Trail Runners, and the Rivertreks affirmed my love for Salomon footwear. My feet stayed dry, they never over heated, and they were exceptionally comfortable. I will be using these for extended backpacking trips carrying heavy stream survey equipment throughout Glacier Park. I have no doubts that they will perform astonishingly! Buy a pair, you will love them. And remember, "life is short, buy everything" (B. Foster)

Great lightweight hiker
Great Shoes! I haven't worn them in the snow yet, so I can't comment on how effective they are in keeping my feet dry. I went on a short day hike, and loved them. Very comfy!

Great light weight hiker
The Rivertrek Mid GTX is a great all around light weight hiking shoe. They are durable and povide adequate support for trail hikes. They are light and comfortable for all day wearing around town or working in the yard/garden. I use these most often for day hiking where they provide water resistance and all day comfort.

LEAKING GORE-TEX
BOOTS ARE COMFORTABLE BUT FEET ARE GETTING WET AFTER ONLY ONE WEEK.THIS IS THE FIRST PAIR OF GORE-TEX BOOTS THAT HAVE EVER LEAKED ON ME
