Salomon Men's Rocker Ski:
Yes, it's fat, it's fast and it only comes in one length. But if you like going for deep backcountry snow, this ski fits you perfectly.
Salomon's ultra-wide rocker is the widest ski in their Freeskiing Big Mountain collection. This swallow-tail ski is considerably wider than the X-Wing Lab, Czar or Lord, but it doesn't have the twin-tip profile--that's because there is only one way to go down the mountain in extreme deep powder. This season Salomon revised the Rocker and added total edge reinforcement for improved edge grip. That said, the Rocker retains its HUGE turn radius of 48.5 meters, so it's not the ideal choice for those narrow, hardpack chutes in the late spring, so it's still not your best choice for carving groomers or hardpack snow. But if you're looking for unexplored bowls and untracked expanses of snow, Salomon's Rocker Ski has the potential to rock your world. Considering pairing it with Salomon's STH 16 B130 and you're good to go--but don't forget your avalanche tools, okay?
