Runners looking for a performance trail shoe will appreciate the Speedcross 3's supportive fit, cushioning and all-terrain traction. Salomon adds reflective hits for low-light visibility and lace pockets to keep the system neat and tidy on the trail.
Leave the traction and support to the Salomon Speedcross 3, so you can focus on keeping pace and winning the race.
Great shoes for trails and mud!
September 06, 2012
This is the first time I ever bought Salomon and I love these shoes! I have run multiple mud races such as Toughmudder, Spartan, and Warrior Dash in them and they have terrific grip, good cushioning, they drain well, and thus far I have not had a blister from them (be sure to get a good pair of socks). The break-in period was very fast, they clean up well with a garden hose and they are ready to go for the next trail run or race. I'm 6" tall, 185-190lbs and my feet have neutral arches. I ordered 10.5 and these were true to size as I wear a 10.5 in Asics, New Balance, Mizuno, and Merrell. I will definitely buy Salomon again!
Pros: comfortable, drain well, good grip, easy to cleanPerfect on muddy trails

The Saloman Speedcross 3 Trail Running Shoe is one of the best trail shoe I ever own. Very light weight, comfortable and with strong support. I was worry about the "soft looking" sole, but after a few runs the tread looks like new. In any case, keep these shoes just for trail running to not wear off the shoe lugs. In addition, the water-resistant textile seems pretty effective to me. Salomon made another great shoes.
No slip shoe

You will not slip in these runners. This is the only pair I use for off pavement runs, because once you are used to this level of grip, it is unsettling to go back to a standard shoe. I've slipped once wearing these, on a smooth sheet of ice. They grab everything else. The fit is perfect too. They wrap right around your foot and the speed laces are the best I've ever used.

A great looking shoe that I use for most all my workout - indoors or out. Fits true to size - comfy with strong support. Did a trail run after a rain - a true mudder trail shoe. Very satisfied!

I have had these shoes for a while now and they are great. They fit true to size and are durable. The shoes are great for trial running and provide the needed traction. The shoes are made from quality material, are very comfortable and hold up to even the toughest runs. I would strongly recommend purchasing the Salomon Speedcross 3.

Super Fantastic

These shoes are now my favorite! They dethroned my Merrell Chameleon stretch 2's. Very light weight and super comfortable best purchase I have made in a long time. I cannot say enough good things about these are shoes!
Great Kicks!

The shoes have been excellent - both on and off the mountain. They fit true to size (but are just a bit narrow). The lacing system is easy, durable and provides for an all-around secure feel. The cleats are very durable. I've been wearing these for a few months and haven't noticed much wear on the cleats at all. I wore these things during a 5 day backpacking trip and never had any complaints- however the weight of my pack made my feet a little sore by the end of the day, and they don't have the best ankle support. They got extremely dirty during that trip, but cleaned off easily and now look good as new. They breath well and dry quickly. They also make for good mountain biking shoes if you're using regular, non-click in pedals. Overall great shoes.

Just like I had hoped

I have always found Salomon shoes to meet if not exceed what I expect out of a pair of shoes. The Speedcross 3s do not disappoint. The tread is gnarly, they fit great, super comfortable, and they look good too. The speedcross shoes will take anything you throw at them as long as it's on the trail. The one problem I had with my last pair (Speedcross 2's) was that the tread wore out pretty quick but I'm pretty sure that's my fault seeing as I started wearing them off the trail on sidewalks and casually which the tread was not designed for. But I came back for second pair and plan on keeping them a trail shoe and that's it. As or size I wear a 13 in the Salomons, a 13 in Nike, a 12.5 in Merrel, and a 13 in Asics so I would say they fit pretty true to size. Overall it's the best trail shoe I've ever worn just keep them off the sidewalks.
Pros: comfort, fit, Cons: wear and tearPerfect on mud and snow

After trying these on in the store, I was sold. The fit is superbe. The heel cup is narrow enough to hug my heels and ankle. They really seal off the ankle area. The toe box is just big enough that i can wiggle my toes but not cut off circulation. On the trails, they are so nimble and the outsole is so sticky that they gave me the confidence to go fast. They have a small footprint so i can land my feet in narrow spaces between rocks. I can make fast turns in them which really helps running on technical downhill trails. On uphill these are just as nice due to the light weight. The soft lugs are perfectly spaced to keep traction in mud but not collect it on the bottom. I've been running these in the snow, and due to the spiky lugs on the outsole (the shoes are marked "M+S"), they don't slide at all - and that's when my other half was wearing his fancy La Sportiva trail runners and complained that he takes one step forward and slide half a step back. Even though these are supposed to be racing shoes, the ride is cushy enough on trails. I can't really tell them apart from my Brooks Cascadia 6 in terms of cush (btw, these Salomons provide much more traction in mud and loose rocks than the Brooks). Supposedly they don't have cushioned midsole at the forefoot, but the soft lugs on the outsole make up for that. Make sure you don't use them on pavement too much - the soft lugs will wear off in no time.
Not for the long haul

I bought the pop green/ bright red / black solomon Speedcross as I am in need of a great trail running shoe for several trail endurance races this year. Initially the Solomon's were great but as distance and time has increased they have transitioned from pleasure to pure pain. I am accustomed to a mid-sole strike and the speed cross don't appear willing to mesh up with my running stride or gait. The final straw came when I was nearly stranded 6 miles from my car as I could barely walk let alone run in the Solomon's. Each step felt as though the shoes were attempting to chip off my outer ankle bones. I attempted to loosen the laces, tighten the laces to no avail. The change in walking/running stride lead to VERY, VERY sore knees and ankles. Runners used to a lighter, more minimal style of shoe might have a lot of difficulties utilizing these shoes. I really wanted to like and keep these as the colors made me want to put them on and run. To Long Did Not Read (TLDR); --painful after 5 miles of difficult trail running (mud, packed dirt, rocks, creeks) --mid-sole strike difficult --stiff at ankle "cups" --not for endurance lengths
Pros: colors, Cons: painful after 5 miles, mid-sole strike difficultA perfect trail shoe

The Saloman Speedcross 3 Trail Running Shoe is the best trail shoe I own. The construction is outstanding and the shoes look great. I especially like the wild bright colors. Mud and dirt wash off easily. I own several pairs and look foward to getting back on the trails. A perfect trail shoe!
