Can't afford Salomon's SPX 90? Don't take out a second mortgage on the family doghouse. Salmon's SPX Pro Snowboard Binding gives you much of the same features, but it doesn't feature that ultra-plush 3D Ergo Lite ankle strap. What that means is that you could feel a little less padding during all-day rides, but other people don't notice. If you can look past the extra ankle padding, the SPX Pro is a great choice and it still offers most of the advanced, lightweight and durable components found on the SPX 90. The SPX pro has Salomon's ultra-light Carbon Drumframe highback made with a co-molded carbon layer over a carbon-loaded nylon body. This high-tech sandwich drastically increases energy response over any other highback design on the market, taking you to a new level of unsurpassed precision. At the center of the frame you'll find Salomon's Compo-Lite baseplate, Salomon's lightest and most advanced baseplate. Dual-layer dampening pads between the binding base and board help reduce vibrations while the patented Wrap Strap up front helps keep your heel back where it belongs. The big difference is the absence of one of Salomon's best binding straps--the 3D Ergo Lite. This one has the slightly older Custom Frame ankle strap with molded Customfit foam around the ankle. It's actually the same ankle strap that many of Salomon's riders use on the tour, but it doesn't have the same asymmetrical torsional flex you might want to hard performance riding throughout the day. Still, if you don't mind a different strap, the SPX Pro is a smart pick for experts who want the same gear as the pros.
