Offering up more stability with its mid height, the Salomon Synapse Mid Hiking Shoes for men are built with the same lightweight support, cushion and speed-enhancing design as the low Synapse Shoes. For those who want to "run their hike” these Salomon shoes have an EVA footbed that absorbs shock, stabilizes your foot and helps propel you forward with a higher heel drop encouraging a natural rocking motion. The outsole is made up of non-marking Contagrip® and Dynamic Traction lugs for great gripping power while the anti-debris mesh upper, mud guard and rubber toe guard keep you protected on the trail. Perfect for a trail run, the Salomon Men's Synapse Mid Hiking Shoes have a Sensifit upper that is light enough for running but strong enough for a tough hike, or even for setting a thru-hike speed record on the AT like Jennifer Pharr Davis did in 2011 in the Synapse lows.

This feels like a lowcut running shoe with a little more support and protection of a mid cut. A little more room in the breadth of the toe than in other Salamon shoes I've worn.
