Salomon Men's X Wing 10 Ski w/ Z10 Ti B80 Binding:
Created specifically for aggressive skiers who like to rip all sides of the mountain,
Salomon's X-Wing 10 ski combines a carving profile with a more forgiving composite core that's not as twitchy as the livelier all-wood cores found in Salomon's higher-end X-Wing models. The X-Wing 10 is great on varied snow surfaces, but the narrower waist makes it a prime pick for guys who like to carve on groomed and hardpack more than deep snow. Some all-terrain skis get a bad rap among beginners and less-than-hardcore skiers because they have a twitchy core profile that tends to feel a little too lively in the bumps and other ungroomed places. While Salomon's expert-oriented X-Wing 10 and X-Wing Tornado Ti have a wood core, the X-Wing 10 has a proven composite fiber core that absorbs the vibrations and shock of unanticipated (or unseen) undulations in the snow. Whether you're an aggressive intermediate looking for better performance from mid-level skis or you're an advanced skier seeking a comfortable and predictable ride, Salomon's X-Wing 10 is a practical choice. It comes with an integrated Salomon Z10 Ti B80 binding with vertical progressive pivot--the same stuff found in the high-end Z12 bindings. Keep in mind that the DIN scale settings are 3-10 for skiers up to 235 lbs., so if you think you'll be racing in top tier competition, you may need a ski/binding pairing with higher DIN settings.
