Offroad winner
Second run in these shoes was a 95 minute steep up and down on a wet wet NZ day. The shoes were awesome - comfortable, sturdy under foot and confidence inspiring in slippery, muddy conditions.

Great Trail Shoe
First pair of Salomon's and I am not disappointed. Snug ankle cup with perfect arch support. True to size however was a bit narrow out of the box but stretched out perfectly after about 30K of use. Especially love the lacing system. Unique look to top off an already great shoe.

Great trail shoe
This is my second pair of Salomon's and I absolutely love them. Great support and wear very well. I did find the sizing to be a bit on the small side. I had to go up a 1/2 size from my regular size.

Great running shoe. I am on my third pair. I still have all three. The older ones are relegated to wearing while doing yard work and walking the dog. My new pair are the ones I wear to the gym. Great Shoe at a Great Price! Mike

Best Shoe Hands Down
I am ordering my third pair right now, these shoes are phenomenal!! The last pair I had had the Gore-Tex XCR, wow so nice for colder runs, and they still breathe as hard as I do. Fit very true to size. Hold up for a little over a year after I started wearing them casually every day. Great Shoe, that is worth every penny! -Ryan

Great adventure running shoe
My second pair of these - great traction and cushioning for rough off road runs. No blisters right from first run and they have been subjected to some of New Zealands tough terrain including plenty of mud and lots of creeks with no problems - best trail running shoe I have tried.

Great with an asterisk...
These are wonderfully comfortable shoes for rocky trails. Drain well, breathe well, quick lacing, etc. Never had a problem with the laces, but the mesh at the crease of the shoe above your pinkie toe is prone to tearing--happened to three pairs. Having said that, I still go back to this shoe over Montrail Hardrock and Continental Divide, TNF Ultra 103, etc.

Excellent shoe
This is a great trainer for on and off road. Has excellent lateral support, great air circulation, and you get no interference from laces because they pull tight and tuck away in the shoe tongue.

great shoe for walking
Most comfortable shoe for walking I've ever had.Used April-October (in UK) for day hikes of up to 30 miles. Secure lacing, really stable on uneven and rocky ground, and excellent grip on most surfaces(except deep mud). Doesn't retain water like trainers with more padding and dries quickly. 780g per pair in size (UK)9.5 so they are light enough for ultra-light gear fans like me.

Great shoe - incredibly comfortable
The shoe fits very well - and the lacing system worked a lot better than I expected - very easy to get adjusted properly, and never came loose. The shoe is really light, and great for trail runs (still awaiting their first Adventure race so we'll see how that goes). My only complaint, and it's a very minor one, is that the sole is pretty soft for my taste. It's great for climbing around on rocks and other stuff, because you can feel everything, but I'm a little concerned about anything very long in them and how much support - I guess I'll have to see, but if you like a very strudy foot bed, then this may not be the shoe for you. But for me, it's a minor issue at this point. Happy Trails!!!

What a shoe!

great cushioning and innovative lacing system
I've been a fan of salomon XA shoes for over a year. Used the XA pro shoes from last year (blue and yellow) as trainers for my high school crouse country season. I had flats to race in, although if I had wanted to the XA pros were light enough for the job. The XA 3D follow in a similar mold - except they are even lighter. The XA pros wore out and needed to be replaced, I liked the lacing system - because it never comes undone - ever - the extra cord tucks into a fold on the top of the tongue it doesn't just stay out either. ANother great feature is the chasis system which puts this piece of really hard plastic between ur foot and the hard rocks of the trail. The XA 3D provides one of the greatest levels of cushioning I've tried on. I like cushioning. I would put them well above my flats in comfort even though I added those 2 oz miracle insoles. Which is good. All around a great show and one am happy to have as my trainer for this season.

Great in the hot, dry Arizona mountains.
This is the most comfortable off road shoe I have used, and offers great support. The shoe has a wider toe box than most, this works great for my square feet. Left shoe lace is short and knotted off center, making it a little more difficult to get on than the right, an inconvience, but not a big enough deal to bother returning them.

Great Adventure Racing/Trail Running Shoe
I just recently finished a 24-hour adventure race in these shoes and they were amazing! The race rained through the whole night and these shoes held very little water weight in them. They breathed well and were wide enough for my feet to swell a little in them over 24 hours.

First shoe to cross olympic national park in a single day
On the second of July My brother and I used Salomons xa 3D pros to to set the record as the first brothers to ever cross the Olympic National Park and we did it in 11 hours with a gained elevation of 7137 and a descent of 6192, I think this is the hardest test the XAPro 3D will ever see, and they performed perfect(but are not recomended for rain forests)if you need more info feel free to E-Mail us.

great for hill running
i tried running up and down the hill slope, the shoes stay in place well. they also perform wel on gravel and grass. however, if you are running on concrete pavement, the cushioning might not be sufficient.

The colors are better than the XAPro 2.Great service from Altrec, delivered quicker and cheaper from the USA to New Zealand from my own country if I could get them here. Great fit & function, but some durability issues
I've owned several pairs of XA Pro and XA Comp, and all have behaved identically: good fit and support, excellent breathability and weight, but the lace sheathing frays due to friction near eyelet at around 100-150 miles. (Salomon offers warrantee replacement laces) Also, significant wear to mesh upper at toe flexion area at around 250 miles. Yet the shoe's positive qualities are so good that I'm willing to accept these caveats for now, in hopes of a long-term fix in future versions of this shoe.

Light with good traction
This is my third pair of trail shoes, my first Salomon's. I find them to more comfortable than the others. I used them on a tough hilly trail with lots of roots. They are light with very good traction. I'm happy with them.

Fits Like A Glove !
Snug heel with a wide too box. Great lateral support but not too sure about these laces. They cut into the upper part of your foot...they should be thicker.

broken laces 6mo
I have the XA Pro XCR and a lace broke at 6 months. They are special laces and hard to fix or replace. Otherwise an excellent shoe.
