When I tried these on in a local store I was super impressed with the way they felt and how they helped correct an arch problem I have. But, once I ordered them and wore them for a few days I noticed the ankles where rubbing really badly. Apparently the heals of these shoes are very low (so the ankle support for the shoe is very high) and caused painful rubbing on the interior ankle bone. I'm very saddened by this but the shoe otherwise rocks! It may be that my ankles are slightly lower then normal so I wouldn't let this review deter you from trying these shoes out. Had this not been an issue I'd still be wearing them. Super comfy otherwise and seemed to be very durable and sturdy but not too heavy for running/walking.

I love these! I have always been a salamon fan and continue to wear them exclusively for running. All of my previous salamon styles have been the salamon xt wings until they updated them to the xt wings2 when the fit became more narrowed and I needed to find a shoe with a wider toe box. This new style fits that bill perfectly.
Even better than old Speedcross II

I've had several pairs of Speedcross II's and these were my favorite shoe, unfortunately, it was updated to the III's. I decieded to try the XR Crossmax Guidance shoes and was very happy to find these are even better! Very easy on feet that swell in the toe area if not enough cush... Nice toe box and very even pressure.

This shoe is so amazing that I'm not sure where to start. I work in retail and wear these shoes for over eight hours at a time (plus 2-3 miles of walking before and after work) and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day--not at all. I don't even need to use it with SuperFeet! They feel great the moment you try them on, and that great feeling just keeps going! I love that they transition well from the workplace to the sidewalk to the trail. The non-removable lining the best thing about this shoe! It is incredibly supple on your feet, and the feeling of comfort lasts throughout the day. I love that there are no seams to rub against, which reduces the risk of blisters and chafing. The toe box is nice and roomy. The soles have a very strong grip on surfaces. Even in water and rough terrain, I have yet to lose my footing. The reflective striping on the sides is a nice safety touch. The no-tie laces are a great feature. I have no problems tucking the laces into the tiny pouch on the tongue of the shoe, but women with larger fingers might find it a bit difficult. (Be careful you don't miss the pouch, it's so well-concealed that you can't even tell that it's there!) These shoes allow for a high amount of airflow, which helps keep the feet dry and prevent overheating. They do get a bit warm when walking exclusively indoors, so choose your socks accordingly. They're great for all kinds of weather. (But note that they are *not* waterproof!) The bright pink stripe on the heel is actually a maroon purple and the lining underneath the tongue is more of a purple shade of pink, but the it actually looks better this way. My only caution is to use care when sizing this shoe, as it seems to run a bit large. This is my first pair of Salomon's (which could explain the sizing trouble). When I ordered my usual 8.5, they were too large, but the size 8 was perfect! (For those more familiar with EU sizing, note that in this particular shoe the US8.5~EU40+2/3, while the US8~EU40.) I'm not surprised that it won the Runner's World award for Best Debut (April 2011 issue). I recommend this shoe with absolutely no reservations!Pros: comfortable, Ease of use, great airflow, seamless lining

Super comfy, runs a little big (tiny bit) I am a dead set 8.5, usually wear a 9 in running shoes, but the 8.5 is a little large here. Haven't taken them running yet, but for a hike, they were awesome.
