Is there anything wrong with these shoes? NO!
These are probably the best shoes I have ever owned.
I am a short guy who can't get into a men's 7 because Solomon shoes run large, usually a half to one full size.
My wife also got a pair, usually a 7, she sized down to 6.5.
Extra comfortable, feels like you are running with springs under your feet when you leap or jump and the cushioning is very nice also, like walking on a nice carpet.
Shoes breath pretty well, although trying to use these on a hot summer day in the 80s or 90s and you will be working up a sweat.
Winter time, NO PROBLEM. These are great winter shoes.
As the title suggests, is there anything wrong with the shoes? So far I can't find anything. I just got them about 1-2 months ago so we will see how durable they are.
I will say, I had some older Solomon shoes, which i loved, they were a bit stiffer than these, and ended up lasting only 2 years. When I brought them to the manager of the store I bought them at, he said he replaced his trail shoes every year. I thought that was a bit extreme. I would expect a pair of shoes to last 3-5 years at least.
So we'll see on durability.
As for fit, function and comfort. Nothing but 5s.

Salomon Shoes!!!!!!
I am a 33 year old 230 lb. male in the military. I've been wearing Salomon shoes for the past 5 years, from humping around the mountains of Afghanistan to running in the state park in my neighborhood. I am continuously impressed with them in more way than one. The gortex models of the XA 3D PRO ULTRA and XT Wings have proven themselves in the harshest conditions, they dont rip, or come apart at the stitching, they just DONT QUIT! The comfort in the Speedcross and 3/4 top XA 3D PRO models are awesome, whether you use them in the gym, running, or casually, it's easy to forget you even have shoes on.
The bottom line is....I have never had an issue with this company's product. They rock.

Great Outdoor Shoes
I specifically purchased these shoes to wear for running in the winter - through the slush and snow. The gortex liner was something I had not seen in a running shoe before and it is awesome! The shoe remains lightweight and breathable - I was a little afraid that my feet would feel claustrophobic, but they don't at all. They are more stiff than my summer, road running shoes though, as is to be expected partly just for the fact that they are trail running shoes and inherently provide stability. With that, they took a few days to break-in, the balls of my feet were a little sore after the first day of wearing them. I found they fit pretty true to size, I'm normally an 8.5-9 and am more like an 8-8.5 in Salomon. The lacing system is really cool, but the slider for loosening/tightening sticks a little. Overall, they provide everything I was looking for and I can't wait to try a season out on the trails. I'll give you an update once I've put on some miles.

good trail running pick
I have been through many pairs of solomon trail shoes. In many ways, I think they're great, but I wish there were more high-end options out there for trail shoes. I too, have had laces break on multiple pairs. Also, the soles wear out much faster than my road running shoes. Obviously they are used on rough terrain, but they are also much heavier and more durable, and I feel that they wear too quickly. I also think that on the gore tex variety, the toe box is too narrow, or is too inflexible. probably the last is the same as the non-gore tex, but maybe the others conform more easily to my foot shape. your feet will get hot. I use these for snow shoe running (with gaiters) in snow on trails as well as in deep snow. I also use them for running in the rain with great success.

Salomon XT Wing 2 GTX
The Salomon trail running shoes are spectacular. Extremely fine and intelligent design considerations went into this line of shoes. I am a pronator and there are few shoes, even the ones designed for pronators, that keep me on the road without hip pain. I've worn the Reebok Premier Trinity line for years, but they are not always easy to find. The latest is Trinity V and is excellent, but in winter I need a warm, waterproof shoe. The Salomon shoes are of the highest quality and provide utmost stability. Having the shoes available in waterproof Goretex is tremendous. Great color selection, many in dirt proof greys, and the lace up system keeps fingers from getting hurt. I've tried the new XT Wing 2 and it's very comfortable, light, completely stable, and warm. However, I have to switch back to the XA Pro Ultra 5 because the cut of the sides of the Wing 2 is too high for me and hurts my ankle bone. That is the only issue that buyers need to take into account with the Wing 2. The XA Pro Ultra is also a tremendous shoe for pronators and has a lower profile. I am immensely grateful that the Salomon line is available.

Great Investment!
This is my second pair of these shoes and they provide the most comfort and traction than other brands of shoes. I really love the fact that they are waterproof!

Salomon Wings
I absolutely love this shoe!! I used the first generation Salomon Wings for two seasons hiking the sierras as well as a 1 month trek in Nepal. They performed excellent in all types of mountain conditions & at that time they were not the GoreTex version. Now I'm a proud owner of the GoreTex version, which brings the Wings up a step even higher than they already are!! I highly recommend this shoe for year around running & trecking/hiking!

Great trail runners
This is my second pair of XT Wings (the first was non-GTX). They are supportive and keep my feet dry on wet trail runs. They also offer good traction on muddy, slick surfaces. I have a narrow heel and a narrow-medium forefoot and they fit well but I would say they run a half-size long. I like the lacing system and have had no problems with it.

WAY too big
I usually wear a size 8 and ordered a size 8 to find WAY too much room in the toe. I also thought they weren't as comfortable as my other salomons (which I know believe were XA's and not XT's after trying on a pair of XA's). The XA's are just springier - whereas these felt very hard.

Very supportive and cushiony!
I ordered a half size up like normal running shoes, but they are a little too big. Be sure to order your actual size, don't size up!

Great shoes except for broken laces
Traction and comfort is exceptional but 2 pairs of laces have broken on 2 different pairs of the shoe. Have been told Salomon is aware of the problem but that doesn't help if you are at a race and one breaks!! Love the ease of lacing. Would like this problem to be resolved before I buy another pair.
