2004-09-08Strong One review wrote that their bottle broke. I would love to know how. I dropped mine in a parking lot and ran it over with the front and rear wheels of my Grand Cherokee, the result was just a couple of scratches. I've also frozen water solid inside a full bottle and it still didn't break. I'd say their nearly invincible.

2004-10-29i ran it over with my car some friends and i just tested out the myth that you can run over a nalgene with a car in our school parking lot. IT'S TRUE! we actually ran over the water bottle TWICE and it did not do more than a couple scratches. frustrated, my friends threw my nalgene with full force into the pavement, and although the lid came off the threads a bit, it did not come all the way off and did not leak. ...what a great day for science...

craig bokesch - 2005-11-06Best Water Bottle Ever I'm very happy with this bottle. It's very sturdy, stands tall, and is built tough for the outdoors. Nalgene water bottles are the cream of the crop when it comes to personal water storage. I plan to use this in conjunction with all my other hiking equipment accessories. Nalgene bottles fit snug in all backpacks...and this one makes the perfect addition. I consider this water bottle an investment for life. Definately pick one up if you haven't already done so. You'll be glad you did.

Farmer Dave - 2002-09-10Last One Standing I was in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for 9 days on the water. 2 of the 6 of us had a Nalgene. By day 2 or 3 the rest had started to leak or break all together. Then there were our 2 Nalgenes. They kept the rest of the crew going for 7 more days. Good thing I was a good Boy Scout and was prepared with the right equipment.

2003-07-18truly unbreakable! Nalgene water bottles are great! They come in all different sizes and colors that would suit anyone. One time my friend ran over hers with her car just to see if it would break and it just flew out from under the car with a few scratches! Although the words may scratch away after a while, you'll never find a more reliable water bottle.

Jen Cerruto - 2006-08-24Nothing but Nalgene Nalgene's are the only way to go...These water bottles are durable and come in fun, bright colors. I am a high school student and my friends and I will only use these because of the capacity and basically just the look of them. These are also great for my friends that play sports to trasport and just throw them in a bag on the bus or to practice. You can slam these around in the car and lockers and anywhere else you can think of and will only scratch up (which goes without saying). I have about 15 of them. I would only use Nalgene and recommend them to anyone!

Dave - 2004-04-10Hands down best water bottle. Read this review. By far the best water bottle to buy. If you need a non-collapsible, nearly unbreakable, leak proof, and durable water bottle, choose this one. Plus it comes in really neat colors. I have been on several backpacking trips and from filling these bottles with water, drink mix, hot coffee, oatmeal, you name it. These water bottles don't retain a flavor. I don't bring my coffee mug camping anymore, because their is no need to take up extra room in my pack. I have also tried other similar water bottles. Some don't fit my water purifier and others leak. They just don't hold up. Nalgene offers a leak proof warranty. If you are thinking well I don't need a water bottle that is this expensive and I will just settle with an imitation nalgene, you are making a mistake. Spend the extra buck or two, it's worth it.

B Run - 2002-11-05Love my Green Machine!!! Yes, I admit that it took me awhile to join the mass hysteria of Nalgene bottles, but once I did- I wouldn't have it any other way!!! If I leave my dorm room with out my trusty Meadow Green Nalgene- I feel lost!! I love not having to worry if i will be thirsty in class or at track bc i know my Nalgene always full !! I would recommend buying a climbing clip to hook to the lid and to your backpack and off you go!!! :)

2004-12-17Buy many! What can I say that hasn't already been said before? These things are unbreakable, don't hold the taste of the fluid that they last contained, and, now, they're cool. I own five or six just so I have a clean one for nearly every day of the week. Don't accept the imitations, Nalgene is the best.

Carlos - 2006-06-30Staying Hydrated . . . it's a lot easier to keep hydrated when I have this around. Spinning the lid off and sipping has become an unconscious thing for me. The wide opening allows for fast and easy filling. And on road trips with the girlfriend, a little braking while she tries to take a sip, makes for fun entertainment!

2006-02-24The best This is the best water bottle that I've had. I could compare its characteristics with other bottles, but it's not necessary. I have used it in long treks, above all getting water from rivers, and keeping hot water inside it, and their properties have not changed. Sometimes, the water changes of flavour, because plastic stays there, but if you use other clean products, you won't have problems.

2002-09-07Best $10 investment I've ever made... This summer I was working at camp and everyone there seemed to have one of these Nalgene water bottles. It just started out with just one person having one and before you knew it EVERYONE had one. Not to long after because of the scorching heat of the summer (and it IS hot down here in Alabama) I was desparate for one of the water bottles, so I had to break down and buy one. I got the honey yellow one...I LOVE IT.I put that water bottle through hell this summer and it's still as good as new. I take mine with me everywhere, now even to class since school has started back. It's so easy to stay hydrated now. All my friends at school have asked me where they can get one of the bottles and I told them...they are hooked to the bottles now too. I'm so glad I bought it; it's totally worth it. Eventually I'm going to own one of each color so I'll have a whole collection.

Mark A. Cook - 2002-07-23My Nalgene went on a 6000 mile trip I purchased my Nalgene bottle for a 6000 mile AMRAK trip that my wife and I took for our 25th anniversary. Both of us had one, and it went everywhere we went for 30 days. I now use it several times a week for outside, and for travel. I fill it about one half with water, and put it in the freezer overnight, the next use you can fill it with water and take it along.

Emily Kallemeyn - 2006-04-29Indispensible The only reason that I have to replace my Nalgenes is that I take them everywhere and as a result, leave them everywhere, and sometimes cannot locate those left behind. But I do love the wide-mouth so I can throw in a chunk of lemon or lime when I want a variation on plain water. And the taste never lingers.

2002-07-22Totally Stoned! I just had kidney stone surgery two weeks ago. The main reason I developed the stones was that I never drank water! My doctor told me that I need to start drinking a minimum of 72 ounces of water a day for the next couple of weeks...and my Nalgene bottle has made that so much easier to do! I hate the concept of bottled water (especially on a college budget)! But it's just so nice to be able to fill it up my my sexy, pink Nalgene bottle and sprint to whatever I am late for, while making sure I drink my reccommended amount of water that day. It's just so practical! In fact it has become my nephew's play toy and no matter how hard he smashes it on the ground...it doesn't break!

Rob - 2003-06-07Nalgene Challenge I have worked for a summer camp over the past few years, and have found this water bottle indispensible (and a lot of fun!) Hearing a rumor that they were "virtually unbreakable" a few other councelors and I decided to test the limits: the Nalgene Challenge was born. Over a three week period, we repeatedly filled the water bottle with various temperatures of water and whipped it at everything imaginable. Down flights of stairs, up in the air, against concrete, and even down the side of rock bluffs, the Nalgene was still holding strong. Only after weeks of constant abuse did one crack along the bottom... and then we sent it back to the company and we were happy to recieve a replacement :-D Try it for yourself... best darn waterbottle available. 2005-01-15Last water bottle you'll buy I bought this one for my mom but I have one that I really love in the same size. It holds a lot and fits well in a backpack and by golly, you can't break these things! My firends dropped one off one of the campus three story parking garages and it was still totally fine!

Paul Luikens - 2002-07-02This bottle is awesome I love this bottle. I have the honey yellow colored one and my brother has an ugly grey one. He was at REI when he bought his and never saw the colored ones so i bought a colored one just to make him jealus and he always talks about having a green one. i swithed lids before i bought it so i have an orange one with a red lid and it looks better than a yellow lid. I carry it around every where even from my room too the living room and it sits in the fridge in my room all night so its cold everyday. Does anybody know where to get a lid with a tube out the top? 2007-04-16Reviewing Nalgene bottles is superfluous. These things are so great, its unbelievable. They are indestructible and always keep water tasting fresh. Rarely will they develop any smells so common to other similar products. Only problem is when you get it it looks new, so its up to you to take it out into the world and get it "scratched up" to earn yourself some credibility when hiking/camping/etc.

2002-12-09Awesome Great for any athlete. I'm a sailor 8 hours a day 5 days a week and getting dehydrated greatly affects any althete's performance. The nalgene bottle is the sturdiest thing I have EVER bought. Several friends and I tested the strength of the bottle with rocks for over an hour, and let me tell you, it still holds water and looks great. There's no after taste, and hey, who doesn't like the cool colors.

2008-01-04Gotta have it I have been using the Nalgene bottles for years. I cannot remember what I did before. Being "green" is really important to me. When I see bottled store water I cringe at the waste and pollution they create. I can only hope that others will kick the wasteful habit of purchasing bottled water.

2005-10-12easy to break Nalgene water bottles are adorable, fun, and almost indistructable....key word being almost. My friends and i decided to test whether or not it was really unbreakable after swim practice one day. After throwing it on the sidewalk 3 times (and we are weak girls by the way) it smashed in two. It's no reason not to buy one there really cool and useful, just dont throw them onto concrete!

aaron - 2004-04-30A good product w/ worries this is an great product for anyone who wants a good and sturdy water bottle. i have had mine thrown off 50ft drops on to rock and still survives or have played soccor w/ an empty one while board. how ever i have found one bad thing that is only a speculation right now, but the polycarbenate may leach a artifical estrogen into your water see the sierra club article, http://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/200311/lol5.asp i repeat that this is only a POSSIBILITY. all in all a good product, but the lexan might be bad. the semi-opaue white bottles made of pp as well as ldpe, and hdpe are safer if you're worried.

2005-05-12Nearly Indestructible I have had Nalgene bottles for quite a while, being the avid outdoorsman that I am. Me and my friends have done everything to this thing. We have run over it twice, once with a big truck. we have hit it with baseball bats, thrown it at concrete walls. thrown it off of buildings. Yet it still remains unharmed, except for the occasional scratches, and a dent.

Grant - 2003-06-09More than meets the eye I've got a meadow green Nalgene with a black lid and am very impressed. As a die-hard camelback user I've slowly been convinced that the Nalgene is better - the Lexan doesn't collect funky smells or grow mystery molds, the wide mouth makes it easy to clean & fill with ice. As a cheapo bachelor, the gradient measuring scale on the side comes in super-handy when measuring liquids or mixing ingredient quantities for cooking too! While I've done no official testing, the bottle itself does certainly seem *unbreakable* and seals extremely well - no leaks. Ever.

Jeff - 2002-12-03dance class I love my 16oz green narrow mouth nalgene bottle. I take it too all my dance classes and it keeps me well hydrated which is important when you sweat for 6 hours a day. I love it so much I just ordered a 32oz honey yellow wide mouth bottle because I needed more water I kept having to fill the little one up after every class, but now the big one is on the way and I will thirst no more thanks Nalgene!

Rosie - 2004-09-09Mmm.. Nalgene Nalgenes are the best. The first two I bought were the translucent white ones that aren't so pretty and aren't made of lexan. I bought them for a 5 week backcountry/trail-working trip and they endured the whole time (and became my closest friends out there - I'm sure other Nalgene fans can relate to this). Anyway, the white ones-- while they endured, didn't do too well with hot water (we had to boil stream water for drinking). It was a little concave but that eventually straightened out. Though the whities have lasted me, I'm retiring them and getting the tougher lexan. Raspberry red, Violet and the new pink! Yes, I'm starting something of a family- but Nalgenes are worth it!

Tim - 2004-07-20The Best Period! I've tried alot of water bottles, and I mean a lot. But none were even close to the quailty of the nalgene. I purchased the wide mouth Sapphire Blue and never looked back. freeride18 - 2002-09-29strong i was rapelling down a ~100 foot cliff, i went to clip it back on my bag and dropped it ~75 feet, when i got to the bottom, it still had all the water in it, and i use the same bottle to the day. hey don't be fooled by all the water stories, it is also good for holding beer.

Lindsey - 2003-01-08Soccer Team Well I can say that Nalgene has kept Toledo's soccer team well hydrated on roadtrips! About 6 of us went and bought them and everyone else is jealous. We also tested our bottle one day and did a t-ball type thing and hit it with a bat. It's the best water bottle ever and I recommend it to all soccer teams.

Steph - 2006-04-20The Best Water Can Get I love my Nalgene bottle. I don't know what I would do without it. As a swimmer, I use it for everything. If I don't have it one day I feel like I am missing something. During a typical swim practice the pool deck looks like a Nalgene party. Almost every swimmer has one. They are extremely durable, they can be thrown at walls multiple times without breaking. And they honestly don't make your water taste funny.

Matthew Brown - 2006-07-31Great bottle This is a great water bottle. I use it to save money on bottled water--I just fill up this bottle at the work watercooler. It has the old style of lid+strap (as opposed to the new Nalgene one-piece lid) which allows you to hang it on your bag's shoulder strap.

Happy - 2003-03-24Stoned as well I also am recovering from kidney stones, and have been told to increase the water!! Easier said then done, but when I notced these cool water bottles, I thought I could try buying one, and see if I actually carry the thing around, and increase my water intake. Well...I got the honey colored one, and it has been my traveling companion ever since. i love the looks of it, and rather then people asking me why I carry water everywhere with me, they instead ask where they can get a water bottle like mine? I have several friends who now own Nalgene water bottles of green, red, blue, and firefly, and because they carry their everywhere, it makes it more comfortable for me to carry mine everywhere, and keep me hydrated and stoned free. What a great gift to me and my friends..thanks nalgene!!!!

2004-11-30I'm addicted! I love them! I have 5 different colors and cannot live without them. Ice goes in the bottles easily. I've even run over my original pink one(accidentaly) with my Jeep and it still works like a champ!

Troop 26 pa - 2004-11-30wow My 32oz bottle was thrown off little big top (gitesburg) it was picked up on the bottem and it was just like new but if given abuse conatantly (everyday) it will bresk in about 10 years.

2006-01-30Tops break these bottles are great and are handy. However the top plastic tops straps which hold the cap to the bottle have a tendency to snap off it has happend to two of my bottles already so beware

Scott - 2006-10-22Indestructible My poor little green nalgene has has been with me for years. it's survived falling off of mountains, falling off the back of trucks, to combat with the Marine Corps in both Afghanistan and Iraq. I never go anywhere without my nalgene. I've used it to hammer tent stakes. I've used to to get ropes over tree limbs. I've taken it on every backpacking trip I've been on. It's the perfect size. You can mix powders in it. you can boil water in it. If it freezes, so what? It won't shatter. Just clip it to your pack with a biner, and go. It'll be the last water bottle you'll ever need. unless of course you want another nalgene.

2007-08-15Love It! The water always tastes good and stays that way. Perfect for people who drink a lot of water but for those who want a little sip here and there, when filled it is rather heavy. It also holds up very well. Ive dropped it many times on hard, rough surfaces, but it has yet to crack. To make it easier to drink from, try using a straw! Its worth the money!

2002-11-29Buy it 4 life The best $8 you can spend. Ive took my nalgene bottle with me everywhere. Weather im caving in PA or hiking in west virginia. Ive toucher tested mine also throwing it up in the air, dropping it off the mountainside, etc... Its the best, and it lasts a lifetime!!!!
