great Vest!!
It's increbdibly warm and versatile. I'm 5'7" and 150lbs and the medium fits perfectly. The fit is tailored so it won't bulk up when layering. The zippered pockets (inside and out) are very useful.

Fantastic!
I live in Maui and who would think I would need this garment? Well I wear it ALOT! It's a well fitting windbreaker on those overcast days on the golf course with just enough fleece to keep your core warm. The up to the neck zipper option gives it EXTRA versatility in the warm department especially when you are hit by a sudden squall. And talk about versatility, I wear this vest on my annual Cycle to the Sun rides which take me from sea level to the !0,031 ft top of Mt Haleakala and I am totally comfortable the whole way up AND down!! And here's the best part....I like to buy this vest for all my good friends cuz I know they will LOVE it....NO DOUBT! Sincerely, Dr John Mills

A great layering vest for active wear.
I purchased this vest because I wanted a windbreaker style, not a heavier fleece style vest. My need was for something to wear as a "core warmer" over a single base layer for use during strenuous activity. The Mountain Hardwear vest is perfect for this purpose. Contrary to other reviews, I found the fit to be quite accurate. I had initially ordered an XL, and had to return it for a L, my regular size.

One of my favorie layering pieces
I've had this vest for a couple of years, I'm 6ft, 178lbs, with a 32" waist - the large fits well. It's an excellent core warmer, and windblocking is great. I just ordered the Tech Jacket to compliment it.

best out there
This is the best vest out there. Windproof and lightweight it's a perfect supplement to a capilene mw longsleeve on summer backcountry overnights when it get breezy on exposed terrain and will keep you warm at dusk/sunrise. It's trim fit is designed for the 33% of U.S.A. that's not overweight, and aids in efficient body heat retention and layering under a trim fitting superlight rain jacket.

Great product, although somewhat expensive.
I finally got to try this vest yesterday during a downpour in the San Juan mountains in Colorado. I wore it underneath my three layer North Face gortex parka. As I was decending from the mountains along a creek at 12,000' elevation, a huge thunderstorm developed. I was getting cold and my gortex gear was getting pretty soaked. After adding it underneath my parka I was comfortable for the rest of my hike. I especially like the zippered hand pockets and the extra inside pocket (four pockets total). This vest fits me perfectly and is true to size. Definitely a thumbs up.

Looks and feels great!
Love this vest; looks and feels great, I just ordered another one in a different color. It's just lite enough so you don't overheat inside the house or office when zipped down or use it out side zipped up as a core warmer - I find I don't need to take it off to stay comfortable, has approx the same weight & warmth as a 100-150gm polartec fleece but windproof - also makes a great inner layer & core wind barrier.

Much better than the Northface windstopper that I own! It blocks the wind better and keeps my body core temp.better balanced.I like the higher neck too.

Well designed and constructed Windstopper vest
Windstopper is, based on my limited experience in breathable apparel, the best combination of permeability for moisture and sealing against wind (and some liquid). Since I live in the high desert I particularly like any well constructed layer that contains this material. This vest is well constructed and expertly designed.

State of the art windstopper vest; no negatives
Three pockets (and one inside) are nice. Liner and back panel seems elasticized and gives easily. Elastic lower border is not adjustable but adapts to body contour well.

Looks and feels great!
There is something about a vest that just makes sense, and the Mountain Hardware Windstopper Vest captures it all. First of all, it looks good, so if you're just standing around trying to look cool, you will still be warm on those chilly fall mornings, and when things heat up, you'll still be cool and dry. As an uderlayer, it's a perfect fit with any soft shell, especially the MH Alchemy Jacket, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts come winter. Size runs true, the collar covers the entire neck when utilized, and the fabric is very friendly. I really can't imagine what life would be like without this vest.

Great Stuff
I never wore vest much until this past year. I borrowed my brother's vest while skiing and loved the slim profile while keeping me warm. I'm looking forward to a great ski season with this. This also is probably the best looking fleece vest I have seen and is great around town as well. Fit seems pretty average compared to most brands. Mountain Hardwear makes some of the best quality stuff out there.

Don't normally get too excited about a vest, but this one really is great. Warm, comfortable, stylish and awesome for layering or on its own. Have been in some mighty cold conditions over the years and this vest has always kept me toasty warm and wind-free.

Great product.
The vest is very functional and meets all my requirements. I needed it for those days when it's was too warm for a t-shirt and a sweater or a jacket, yet too cold for a t-shirt alone. Pockets also came handy to keep few things. The windstopper fabric is very nice and warm without the bulk. Workmanship is top notch and the four pockets just what I needed.

EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT!
This is another great product from a trusted brand! I love the windproof fleece! Also, it is very light in weight and feels very durable. Would not even look at any other vest. Recommend ordering a size up if you don't like a very slim fit look. I had to exchange for a bigger one.

Must Have Vest
This vest was a must have for me on my Appalachian Trail thru hike. The windstopper broke the bone chilling wind and kept me warm. The fleece doubled as a pillow at night. After six months of extreme use, it shows little wear and I still wear it. A major plus was that it did not retain odor like many synthetic materials do. I recommend this item to anyone who is looking for a quality product that will last a long time.

Terrific...and versatile
Very light. Great to use use under shell in colder weather or alone when warmer. Does not have the bulky arms of the full size windstopper jacket. Also lighter than the Patagonia R4 vest. Great product.

excellent vest
I have owned this vest for a few weeks and I have been very impressed by its overall quality. It is surprisingly warm for such a light garment. It makes an outstanding layer with my Mountain Hardwear shell. It even looks somewhat classy for wearing in non-outdoors environment. The price at Altrec was lower than the other common online stores. I recommend it highly.

Excellent mid-weight vest
This is a really good mid-weight vest; warm, functional pockets, light. The vest is cut such that it doesn't interfere with arm movements and works really well for layering under a shell. Good buy!!

Light, trim, fits & looks great.
I really like the Mountain Hardwear Windstopper vest. It has a nice trim fit, great looks, just the right number of pockets, and is very well made. I can't wait for the weather to cool down again. I love great jackets and vests. Next on my list is the Windstopper Tech jacket. Made in the USA by people who understand what works.

nice vest
I got the vest as a gift. The large was a bit snug. I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it or not. I got a larger size and was nuch happier with it. We've had some milder weather where I live and have had the chance to really wear it. I like. Just for the record I'm a diehard northface fan but I think it's important to try new things you never know.

very good
It's a very nice low-bulk vest. I'm medium build and it fits perfectly. I tend to run warm, so I use it as a mid layer to keep the core warm. Wish it was made in america. I bought my wife last year's women's version which was US made and seemed a little better quality overall. Not that the quality is bad, just maybe a little step backwards from the made in US.

Awesome
Hands down, this is the most effective wind stopping vest on the market. My reason for giving four stars instead of five is because of the sizing issues. I wouldn’t even say they are issues the vest is just cut for very slim individuals. People, watch this brand as they are becoming leaders in active sports wear!!!! (And no I do not work for them!)

Great value
If you look at other vests, the MHW vest is a great value. You might want to know that the vest has a very trim, athletic cut. My only issue with it is the neck is a bit long.

Very nice but sizing problems
The sizing was difficult. On Mountain gear jackets a large fits me great, but on their vests, a large is too small and an extra large is too large.
