Fit Tip: This hat runs small, size up one size for a looser fit.
This fleece hat features a simple shape with circular ear band and truncated-triangle-shaped top. The bottom edge of this WINDSTOPPER® Alpine Hat from Outdoor Research is somewhat curved to provide excellent coverage for the ears. Stay warm and comfortable while you whiz down the mountain on skis or on a board.
Great Hat
I wore this to the top of Kilimanjaro in cold, windy conditions a few years back. My ears were never cold. It fit well under my balaclava due to its thin profile, it's great for layering or by itself. I'll be taking it on my Aconcagua trip I'm leaving on next week.
WindStopper Alpine Hat 20671
My wife says I look like I'm wearing a condom on my head :) . I disagree of course. I love this hat. I use it as part of my rollerblading ensemble and it works to perfection. One of the best fall and winter hats I've ever purchased. Excellent price too.
Very Nice Hat
I bought this hat for my Mom. She has very sensitive ears. The hat kept her head and ears very warm in cold winter weather. It was a great buy!

Great Hat!
Great hat. Very thin and comfortable. Covers ears well. Nice fit.Really keeps your head warm in all kinds of weather.
I definitely would recommend this hat.
Outstanding hat
Great hat. Very close fit that would work well under climbing helmets. Extremely warm as well. I found that the fit was a bit smaller than I expected (maybe my head is shrinking!), and had to reorder, which was no problem through Altrec.
Great hat
I really like this hat. I've worn it in 30 mph wind gusts and didn't feel a thing. The Windstopper fabric is topnotch, as is the Polartec 200 fleece. I have a similar hat from Outdoor Research - I much prefer this one because of its Polartec 200 fleece.
Great as a hat and fits close enough to use as a liner.
Worn on a mid-October morning kayak trip to look at turning leaves around Wawaynda Lake in New Jersey. Kept my ears and head warm and kept the wind and any accidental splashes off me.
Excellent Hat
We finally had the type of weather to put this hat to the test. Wind, snow, and sleet could not penetrate this hat. Wind chills around 0 degrees and my head, which by the way doesn't have much hair, is toasty. My ears are covered and warm. Don't be fooled by the thin-ness of the hat. It does work.
Great Fit Under a Motor Cycle Helmet
Keeps the wind off my ears and bald-head at 60 MPH, under my 1/2 and 3/4 type motor cycle helmets. I like to ride in the winter and this WindStopper Alpine Hat works great.
Great hat
Really shuts out the wind and has good coverage over your ears...thin light material so it packs easily but still keeps your head warm.
Kudos !!!!
I love products that live up to their hype. And this hat by Outdoor Research does. Nice snug fit that doesn't slowly creep up your head with every little turn or twist. The stitching on the edges actually kind of wraps under your ears so it doesn't creep up, exposing them to the elements.
Windproof, warm, non-creeping, stays put on your head.
It is true they do run small so order accordingly. I agree with the one reviewer, the way the seam is on the top of the hat, does tend to cone up making you look like a "conehead", but who cares. Quirkiness is in vogue anyhow.
OR Windstopper Alpine Hat
Great hat work well in cold windy setting. Keeps them ears warm.
Its got a good fit I wear it under a helmet sometimes too.
Highly recommended
Glove for your head!
Fits like a glove for your head. I normally take a size Large in most covers/caps/hats, but with the design of this Alpine, I had to exchange for a size Medium -- the Large kept being pushed down my forehead and into my eyes as I rotated my head. An outstanding lightweight, form-fitting windstopper.
great
very good windstopper
Good hat in XL
Warm. Windstopper definitely Stops the wind. Packs well. You can stuff it in a pocket. Fits my fat head fine. Many other hats I've tried are too small - and cause headaches. One size does NOT fit all. This hat in XL - will definitely fit.
Good Choice
I needed something to cover my ears as I'm prone to ear infections and wanted to keep the cold air out of them during outdoor activities.I was surprised to find out how it keeps my ears and head warm despite it being thin. Great service, too. Arrived in good time.
And the winner is- Windstopper Alpine Hat
This is the best winter hat I have ever owned. Keeps your head at a perfect temp. Stop's the wind dead in it's tracks.
Definite Buy
Wore it yesterday for my long run, it was about 33 degrees and very windy. The hat was perfect. It kept my nogin toasty and cut the wind like nothing else. Warm but not too warm if you know what I mean. No problem recommending this one!
Use it all the time
Although it is thin, it protects very nicely from cold and wind. It is also a tight fit - you should decide if you can accept, or just buy larger. I myself did like this tight fit, as I have suffered from looser hats while skiing.
Near Perfect
Great Hat, I have several of them...Windproof with good ear coverage and not too heavy. The only thing that could be added/changed is a four seam sort of thing on top of the crown. The way it is it kind of sits up like a cone head.
Great hat!
This is a lightweight hat that is very warm and comfortable, even when wet. I wear it kayaking, sailing and working outdoors ...you can't beat it!
very nice
good windstopper
Stylish, well made, and keeps out the noise
A warm, well made hat. The windstopper ear-covering certainly reduces hearing, but will probably keep out wind noise as well. The ear coverings can also simply be flipped up.
Light Weight Noggin Cover
Very light efficient noggin cover!
keeps my ears toasty
great hat, keeps me from freezing when up in the alps at 3800M, just the way to keep out the cold winds
Great hat for all but the coldest days
I tend to be quite warm, so I found this hat to be fantastic while I skied Mt Baker last weekeknd. The hat is windproof and covers the ears, which is a real bonus. The hat keeps you warm without roasting your head. I definately reccomend the hat for any active outdoor winter pursuits.
The hat also looks good. I have a large melon, so I appreciate the "slimming" nature of the hat.
M is a bit too small for me
I like the material and color but it is too small for me. It make me look awful since the it does not cover my ear fully and not enough room for my head. I had the Mountain Hardware and fit so much better for same M size.
