I took this tent to a local park to check everything out. It went up quickly but I had my doubts about the plastic fasteners on the poles. It was the first time with this design. That night, the site had torrential rains and high winds. There was not a speck of wetness inside the tent the next day. Sleeping bag was dry and because I guy lined the tent down, it never moved, even in 60 mph winds. The tent was perfect. Plenty of room to move my 72 inch frame around. The ONLY drawback as the small top ridge pole. It could easily be lost in the process of taking the tent down. I like to put a reflective flag or ribbon on it so I won't forget it.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: top ridge pole
A great buy on a great tent.

I had an older model that has been my favorite. The new lightyear is easier to set up and still a great one man tent.
Great tent, nice vestibule!!

The Sierra Designs Lightyear 1 is an excellent solo tent. It is lightweight, packs small and is easy to setup. The small vestibule makes a dry entry/exit possible in the rain. Great tent!!!
Excellent Solo Tent

Weighing just under 3 lbs. with rain fly and footprint, the Sierra Designs Lightyear is an excellent choice for the soloist. I find that the non-symetric floor plan actually creates more room for gear that I want inside the tent with me. This is not a standalone tent but can be set up with only 2 stakes in good whether and when fully staked out is very secure. The ventilation is good and for my 5'6" frame the headroom is more than adequate. It packs up very compactly. I really like this tent!
Awesome Compact lightweight tent!!

Just an outstanding piece of gear. I got rid of the stuff sack and got a sea to summit 4L one that is half the size and the (tent/fly w/o poles) fits in it great. It is perfect for my AT thru hike in the colder months and is very weather proof small and lightweight. Very happy with the product, Thanks
Sweet little tent.

I have used cheap tents that are a pain to carry and set up in the past. I was impressed with the Jake's Foot on this little guy. It makes the set up easy. When set up it is suprisingly roomy. It packs up in a short package (19") that will fit neatly in most packs. All this and under 3 pounds.
