Description

Lightweight wind and water resistance in a convenient storage sack means you’ll always have a jacket to throw on when traveling, backpacking, trekking, biking or hiking when you stash the Men's Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket in your daypack. Made from polyester Microlight™ fabric, this windbreaker has a polyurethane coating to give it a little resistance to light rain. The full-zip front makes it quick and convenient to pull on or off and the relaxed fit gives you room underneath for layers. The adjustable hood, drawcord at the hem, elastic cuffs and 2 zippered hand pockets give you more protection from chilly winds. Compressible and weighing only 10 ounces, this wind jacket stows in the included stuff sack for a convenient bundle you can keep in the bottom of your backpack until a passing shower or cooler temperatures roll through. Backpackers and globetrotters agree the Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket for men is a must-have when you’re traveling.

Really a great all around light shell!
December 30, 2007

This guy is light! goes anywhere you go, its 100% wind proof and is very rain resistant, only the untaped seams let any water though. I don't own a car, i bike everywhere so i needed a light rain jacket to keep with me all the time, this work perfectly, after 30 minutes in rain i only had a few drops get through on my shoulders. Will this protect you completely in a storm? no, but you'll be happy o have it if you didn't prepare for the storm.

Very light and compact

If you are looking for a small and light weight rain jacket option for backpaking or hiking, you have found it. I would not want to have to wear this for very long periods due to the lack of breathability, but it will be great for the occasional storms that are encountered on the trail.

Nice light rain jacket. Perfect for traveling. Wish I'd had it when I encountered summer rains on my Europe trip this past summer. It would have been ideal to be stashed in fanny packs for sightseeing in Paris and London.

Sierra Designs Jacket
March 30, 2011

My husband has had the pullover jacket just like this for several years, and for his birthday he asked for the full zip version. He has gotten a lot of use out of it, and has loaned it to our son and son-in-law too. It packs easily because it is so compact in the small bag that comes with it. A great gift for any guy...who wants to stay dry!

Like it a lot!
February 25, 2013

This jacket works well, it packs down nice and small and offers great lightweight protection from the elements! It's not waterproof, but sheds light rain, making it exactly what I like to have stashed away for those freak storms out on the trail! Definitely would buy it again!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Not a keeper
May 22, 2012

There is so much to like about this jacket: style, color (Ink is great), and I'm sure it's good technically, but I had to send it back. I don't like its stiff, crinkly feel, and the "noise" it makes. Thanks anyway, Altrec and Sierra Designs.

great!

Great rain jacket
August 14, 2009

Perfect to throw in your bag in case of rain. Very compact and will keep you dry. Like other reviews have said, its not very breathable. So, you won't want to wear it all day. But, it will definitely keep you dry in a rain shower!

Great Jacket for the Price
January 21, 2010

Great buy. This is a very light jacket which is also very reasonably priced. I was a little concerned about buying it because the picture makes the fabric look constantly wrinkled (it's not the case). The water-repellency is fantastic. There are also two outside zippered pockets, which form two "inside" pockets.

Great for temp 37-50 Keeps the wind out very well. Has a hood. Waterproof. Dries quickly. Folds very small. Travels well. Would prefer the inside to be black instead of white.

good value
February 10, 2012

Excellent value for the money. The best feature is that you can fold it up and carry it with you in your car, or in a packpack. It is very lightweight and comfortable. It does come a little larger than indicated but this shouldn't be a problem. It fits nicely over most garments.

Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value

OK for light rain & short trips
November 27, 2008

I bike to work daily in Hawai'i and tried this out during the rainy season (70-80s F). OK for short trips in light rain but add a slight headwind and the rain comes right through the unprotected zipper. And after one year the rain-resistant coating is pretty much shot. I'll keep looking...

Excellent Lightweight Protection
January 12, 2012

I was amazed at the light weight fabric and the excellent water repellent functions that this jacket has. I ordered XXL and it was indeed a good fit as I am a large person so this is important for me. I am 6' tall and weigh approx 235lbs. The color is a neutral grey so it goes with anything. It comes with its own carry bag so it compresses to a small bag so easy to pack around. I would recommend this for anyone who needs a pack-able jacket for any kind of trip or just a hike.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
