Whoever came up with the design for the Tiros was realistic about four-season outdoor activities: If you're staying out overnight in the middle of winter, you're going to carry more gear than the other seasons, so you need more space. The Tiros has plenty--over 40 square feet--with two vestibules at both ends of the tent. What about that AST designation? That stands for Arch Support Technology, which comes in the form of something called a Jake's Corner--a removable structural element that strengthens and supports the long pole arches, eliminating the rotation of the poles at their tips. The Tiros also features Sierra's new Stash Door, a patented design that opens on a circular zipper track that opens easily and stows in a mounted mesh pocket that's off the ground and out of the way, so you don't have to worry about it getting dirty or in the way like those old d-doors. A special Swift Clip™ design eliminates pole sleeves, so you can clip the tent body to the poles without threading poles through tent sleeves. This allows you to stake down the tent first and then erect it, making it easier to set up the tent in high winds.
