Description

When the skies are dark and ominous, the Women's Sierra Designs Hurricane Jacket will keep your outside plans on track. Made from waterproof breathable Hurricane™ 2-layer fabric, this rain jacket is fully seam taped with a DWR coating to keep you dry in any downpour. An adjustable hood, a drawcord at the hem and Velcro tabs at the cuffs help seal out the elements when the winds pick up speed. Whether you’re dashing across campus, biking into town or backpacking in the rainy Pacific Northwest, you’ll have zippered underarm vents to help regulate your temperature and 3 external zippered pockets to carry your keys and wallet or map and compass. Stuff the Hurricane rain coat into its handy little stuff sack and keep it in your daypack while traveling so you’re never stuck huddling under an overhang with other unprepared tourists.

Great jacket!
March 05, 2011

I love this jacket - it fits perfectly, it's lightweight but waterproof and wind resistant, and the citron/ shale colors are great. This model is great if you want to be both active and stylish in inclement weather.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

A great find
January 08, 2010

I needed a black rain jacket for my active niece at school. I wanted waterproof and economical and she wanted black, breathable, and nicely cut. It was a last minute purchase that arrived on Christmas Eve morning before we left for our Christmas exchange. It was a super gift and a great shopping experience.

cheap product!

paper thin and too short. The draw string around the neck did not work, and even if it did, it would have been hard to work.

Great Rain Jacket!
December 16, 2010

This is a wonderful rain jacket! I did have one problem though. I ordered a women's small but got sent a large. Altrec made the return very easy though. I would not hesitate to order from them agian. Hood stays up well. Seams are strong and waterproof. Love my jacket!

Pros: Performance

Great rain jacket...highly recommended!
July 05, 2010

This jacket is great! I got the Leaf color and it is vibrant and fun...the hood is deep enough for me to wear my hair in a bun and the brim still covers my face (I've never found another hood that does this!) It is very light, so if you want something warm either buy a size up and wear a sweatshirt underneath or go with another one...

functional and attractive
June 01, 2009

This is a great waterproof/windproof jacket, and it's loaded with thoughtful little features to make it extra comfortable. It's designed for use in warmer weather, so venting is very important to keep you comfortable. In addition to 2 zippered venting pockets, it has a convenient chest pocket and pit zips, so you can easily control air circulation while keeping the rain off. I bought a size up with this jacket and it fits me perfectly, plus a bit of room to spare for extra layers (you'll want to add a cozy underlayer on cooler days). It has a very flattering feminine cut, too.

Great jacket
August 21, 2012

With the wonderful help from the phone rep, I chose this jacket to help survive the occasional monsoon-like downpours we have in New Hampshire. Sure enough, soon after I received the jacket I had the chance to test it's rainproof qualities. It passed with flying colors. I wore it while fixing something outside in a downpour and while the rest of me was soaked, everything under the jacket was completely dry. It has excellent ventilation and can easily accommodate a light sweater underneath. I bought it in a grass color and it is very attractive. It has great pockets and fits into an attached sac. Great for tucking into my golf bag. Excellent purchase.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Good
September 29, 2009

This jacket is lovely! It is good for a shell when you don't want any extra insulation. There is also some ventilation under the arms making it a nice running jacket. I love the long sleeves (which are never long enough). Exactly what I was looking for!

Great Jacket!!!
August 07, 2012

This jacket fits perfectly and is a beautiful blue color. It is casual but can be worn with skirts as well as pants. It is not heavy but is light enough and roomy enough to layer under. It is perfect for windy and rainy days and I like the hood which fits well. Although I am usually a size medium, I bought a large so that I could layer.

Pretty jacket
March 13, 2012

I'm usually a medium, but bought a Large and it feels a bit snug when I wear a sweater under it. However, I have not really used jacket yet since I bought it as raingear for a walking trip to Ireland in two months. I love the color. Good price. My sister who is coming along on the trip bought sameone in green, size Medium and she is happy with it.

Pros: Great design, Great value, lovely color, Cons: waiting to see how it performs during irish hike

Good Jacket for a Good Price
November 12, 2009

My wife was looking for a light weight water proof jacket and this jacket has been perfect. It looks good, the hood stays up, and the jacket repels water very well. Highly recommended.

Not so good...
June 21, 2011

I thought the sizing was great and the style looked good BUT I didn't like the liner. It felt cheap and was uncomfortable. And the zippers and seams under the arms were bulky and uncomfortable too. I returned it.

Great Jacket if the Price is Right!
May 06, 2011

I really like this jacket. However, I got mine on sale. Had I paid full price, I might have returned it. I would definitely recommend it, as the pros outweigh the cons, but make sure the price is right at the time of your purchase. Pros: Style - I like the hourglass fit. It's got a small flare at the hips which makes it a bit more stylish than other raincoats. Waterproof - Although I haven't worn it outdoors in the rain yet, it does appear to be pretty weather proof. Features - I love the armpit vents. A very nice feature for a rain jacket! Cons: Comfort - The lining seems a bit cheap. It's a white, almost plastic like lining. I'm afraid it's going to rip if a zipper catches it wrong. It also seems like it might be uncomfortable w/o a thin layer separating the jacket from your body. Features - For the life of me, I can't figure out the hood. It's HUGE! The pull tabs seem really flimsy, so I'm afraid I'm going to rip the jacket when I try to pull on them. Sizing - It's not really a con, but the jacket does run small. I would usually wear a women's large and was hesitant about getting the XL. Glad I did. It's cut small, so the XL fit fine. It does still fit snug though, so I'm curious if I can fit more than a fine layer beneath.

Pros: Great design, Ease of use, great features, Cons: Cost
