Some ski manufacturers compare their top-of-the-line skis to sports cars, but Volkl's TigerShark 12 Foot Power Switch is more like a super car with luxury ride refinements. This luxury ride potential comes in the form of Power Switch Technology, the world's first onboard ski power adjustment. Near the tail of the ski you'll see a little round power switch that connected to dual carbon fiber rods encased inside full-length tuning tubes that run along the TigerShark 12 Foot's edges. Flip the switch on and you'll compress elastomer springs (you can see them through little windows near the ski tips) and increase the ski's rigidity and potential power. Keep the switch on for skiing hard, and turn it off when you want to cruise. The TigerShark 12 Foot is a highly responsive expert design that's ideal for guys who want a powerful, GS-ski without all the FIS restrictions. It features a lightweight titanium construction for added rigidity without excess ounces. There's also a tip-to-tail Sensorwood core and wood sidewalls for flex. Unlike some ski manufacturers who contract core work to third party companies, Volkl produces their own wood core to optimize quality and consistency in design with CNC precision. The TigerShark 12 Foot also features Volkl's Double Grip XT technology, a double-height construction above the ski edge that enhances skier support and grip through varying high-speed turn arcs. Last season replaced the integrated Marker Motion AT Racing Binding on their top-of-the-line skis with a new Marker Motion iPT 12.0 Piston Binding for exceptional power transmission and sensitivity. It's a lighter binding design that improves the ski flex through an improved Motion system. The iPT stands for "internal power transmission" because unlike previous Marker Motion bindings, this one is built into the ski, created the most rigid connection ever developed for this binding line. Because the sides of the binding interface rest directly on top of the TigerShark 12 Foot Extended Double Grip construction, you can apply more pressure directly over the ski edges. This gives you better response with the same lively feel that quickly rebounds through the perfectly rounded ski flex in each turn. Another binding enhancement is the interface, which now snaps together according to your boot sole length, so you can do away with the added ounces of an adjustment dial.
