Salomon Teneighty Gun Skis (Fall 06):
You went big last season, now go bigger. Salomon's award-winning Teneighty Gun Ski borrows the best of the old Pocket Rocket and takes it further with a stiffer tail and a new full-width, total edge reinforcement. That's right--bonk with complete indiscretion. We won't tell on you. We're betting that the Teneighty Gun walks away with just as many ski magazine awards, recommendations and reviews as it did last year because Salomon kept all the good stuff intact and built it on a stronger platform, so you can huck off cliffs and kick off the kickers with more abandon and less worry than last year. The wide (96 millimeters in 174-cm. length!) proportions add extra float in deep powder and untracked stuff, although we like to tell ourselves that the wide width also provides better wind resistance for more air--but there's no hardcore evidence for our largely unfounded theory. What we do know is that the Salomon Teneighty Gun remains one of the best freestyle platforms for getting wild and crazy in the backcountry (especially if you have the spare change to afford heli-skiing). Pair the Teneighty Gun with Salomon's ultra-light Z12 Ti B100 ski binding with the 100-mm. long brake bar and you are ready for takeoff
