Great Headband
March 22, 2011
I've been wearing a heavy woolen hat during the winter to walk my pups. But now the weather is nicer, I'd like to switch to a headband so I at least have ear protection against the cold winds here in upstate New York. I bought this headband because it was wool for my ear protection and not bulky like others out there on the market. The only downside is it is a bit wide for me so I just double it up in just the front. I definitely would recommend it. For that matter, I bought two (one for backup).
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, great ear protection, Cons: just a bit wideGreat headband!

I use this for running. It's wide, so on colder days you can cover your ears, and for warmer days it serves as a hair band. I love Smart Wool. It's light weight and breathes well. Nice product.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great valueDoes the Job Effectively

Ordered 2 of these headbands for winter running and they keep my ears toasty warm. Would highly recommend for any outdoor winter activity!

Good, not great

Headband was a great combination of warmth and coverage for cold morning runs. My only wish is that the care tag allowed it to go in the dryer.
Love it! Wish it came in multiple colors

Really, this is the cat's meow! It is whisper light, but keeps me incredibly warm. It's nice and wide - wider than most headbands and it doesn't flatten my hair like many would. It has a nice light fit, which helps avoid the hair issue, it's thin enough to even wear underneath something else for those really cold days, but this is usually enough, even in Minnesota. I only wish it came in more colors! Love the fit (and I've got a big head for a woman...)
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueBetter than fleece

I purchased this as a replacement for the SmartWool headband that I lost at the end of last season. I actually purchased 2 this time. I like that it stays on snug and has a really low profile. I wear it under my ski helmet and it doesn't add bulk. My previous headband was much narrower-probably by an inch or so. I prefer the narrow one, but this has all the same great qualities.

comfy, stays put

Really comfortable headband - not itchy, stretchy & stays put. Totally worth it. My ears stayed warm in below 30F morning air. My head is not small but this headband fits just right. I love both the material and the fit.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useGreat headband

Training outdoors during the winter in Louisiana can be a tricky thing. Our conditions are never arctic-blast cold, but some days the dampness combined with moderate cold can penetrate right to the bone. I've always been a big fan of headbands when it comes to winter training in the deep south. If I keep my head and hands warm, I feel warm. This season I've been on a big merino wool kick and I stumbled across this simple Smartwool Headband. The reviews were good and the price was reasonable. After wearing this headband for a few weeks, I can confidently give it a double-thumbs up. It provides lots of "noggin' coverage" and it doesn't fit too tight like some other headbands. I hardly notice I'm wearing it and it does a good job keeping me warm. I'm thinking this is a great headband for temps ranging from the mid-20s to mid-40s. I know it's just a headband, but we runners get excited about the littlest things.
