It does the work it's designed for.
A little bit thin. Quick drying.
Fit very well. 180cm 90kg size L.
I noticed it wear out a little bit quick than I expected.
Worth buying.

Does the job!
Good for that extra something you need when out in rain and wind in the 40's.
It is surprisingly comfortable. I thought that it would be itchy, but it is not. Very tight fit, but not constricting.

Men's Microweight bottoms

Spendy, but worth it
I was considering silks as I've already got an shirt that I like very much, but glad that I settled on the Smartwool for bottoms. They hold position better than silk, are warmer, and actually just as soft.
They're warm enough under jeans for biking in the Northwest winter, but not enough for something static like fishing on the Columbia. Brrrr.
I'm 6'1", 180lbs and the large fit a little big on me. I might get a medium next time.

Great indoor/outdoor option
Nice and thin so these bottoms fit easily under your trousers. Solid for 40-50 degree weather when you want to take the chill off outdoors but still be comfortable inside. Wool rules.

Smartwool midweight bottomes
This product has been terrific for winter hikes or even winter chores . They are very lightweight but deliver warmth without condensation. You forgot that you are wearing long underwear . Far superior to synthetic products - worth the extra expense. Highly recommend to have at least one pair .

great liner tights
These worked well as a liner tight with insulated Sugoi cycling pants. Rode in 20 degrees and was fine. Much softer on the skin than UnderArmour. Great fly feature.

Just what I was looking for
I must admit to being a big fan of every Smartwool product that I've purchased. These are no different. I wanted something to keep me warm when I am outside but that I would not make me too hot when I am inside. These aren't gonna keep you warm if you are out all day but if you are going in and out then they are perfect.
They fit great (size M - 5'11", 155), have some stretch in them so they can adapt to different body types.

Great baselayer!
I used to dread the long winter walk from my truck to the building where I work; the wind cutting through by dress pants and putting me in a sour mood before I even reach my desk. No more. I love these things. They were slightly itchy at first but now I'm used to them, and it seems like I'm wearing a pair all the time (in the winter at least).
I've yet to use them for any more 'active' endeavors, but I plan on testing them out in winter running, biking, snowboarding, etc. I expect them to perform wonderfully. If not, I'll simply upgrade to a higher gram-weight version of these SmartWool bottoms.
I'm well pleased with these bottoms and would highly recommend them.

in the winter i always wear a baselayer... anything from thermal underwear to spandex jogging tights. the smartwool microweight bottoms have been absolutely outstanding. first off, smartwool products, in my experience have been of fantastic quality... in fact, most of my socks these days are smartwool and they have all outlasted any of my other synthetic socks by a decent margin. secondly, the lightweight of these bottoms makes wearing a 2nd layer much less constricting. i don't wear baggy pants so it's important that the base layer not be too bulky. these bottoms are quite thin. they aren't the warmest bottoms i've ever worn but i live in connecticut where winter temps are generally in the 20's and 30's so they are perfect. i've been wearing these basically daily since i've gotten them and can't be more pleased with them.
the only gripe i have with them is the waist seems to be a little high on them... but that seems to be the case with most pants out there... just my opinion, though.

Great Base Layer
I bought these base layer bottoms a year ago and I am still amazed at how well they perform. I wear them under my dress pants to work as I am often times outside during at my job the winter. Size is true to fit and extremely comfortable. Long lasting and high quality. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone spending any significant amount of time outside on cold days.

impressed
I have used several brands of bottoms and these definitely are the best I have had. They are very comfortable, breathable and VERY warm. That about all you need for bottoms.

Smartwool is the best!
Merino wool is superior to synthetic fabrics. Oz for oz, I think Smartwool offers better insulation. Smartwool is not like wool that I remember as a kid either. No itchiness. Also Smartwool really does not hold odor like much of the synthetic outdoor clothing I have. The quality of Smartwool products is the one to beat for sure. If you want the best, treat yourself to Smartwool. Seriously. Give it a try. You won't regret it if you are serious about quality outdoor clothing.

wonderful product
Smartwool products are top of the line. Superb: Great fit. great quality. The customer service/order people are courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. Altrec's prices and service are excellent. It is a pleasure to deal with such a fine company.

Light, soft, very warm
I have used the Smartwool NTS Microweight bottoms almost every day for about two weeks now. They are incredibly light and comfortable, they are soft and do not itch. For running and hiking these are great, since they have very good mobility, not hampering movement and wick away any moisture with ease. I'm 5'11 and the medium fits me well. I would highly recommend these.

Highly recommended
My husband wore these almost every day last winter. We live in N.E. and he wore them as an extra layer under his jeans. They were not itchy and easy to care for. Only negative is the seat of the pants started to wear thin. That's why I ordered another pair.

WOOL > SYNTHETIC
I love Patagonia but Synchilla long johns of all weights pull the hairs out of my legs. One at a time. Painfully. I don't know why, lucky I guess. But I've heard the same complaint from other men. Usually I just suffer, but this year I received SmartWool midweights for Christmas. They were smooth and painless and warm, but not too warm. Not groin-drenchingly warm. Perfect for working outside in the frigid. For those milder days, and for the inside/outside jobs, I ordered these microweights. They are so darn smoove. That is slang for deadly smooth. And not as silly expenseive as the Patagonia or the Filson wools. It's a compromise. I have little kids, so I know all about compromise.

Smartwool is the way to go
Wore these on a warm ski day at Beaver Creek last week... They are very comfortable and great at moisture wicking. Probably not thick enough for really really cold days, but perfect when a light base layer will do.

excellent bottom
I bought them for my husband and he loves them very much. They are light, warm, comfy and not itchy at all. And they are easy to wash/dry/care. They are good for travel too because they are super-compact!

Perfect for a little chill protection
comfortable, adding just a little warmth to make lightweight pants suitable for chillier days. the cuffs are stretchy enough that it's easy to keep these above boots, so it's not necessary to get boot-top bottoms in this weight.

excellent product
"These tights are light, warm, silky smooth. In spite of being wool they don't itch *at all*. I'm 5'11" and they fit just fine, and would still if I were a few inches taller. I think I've slept in them every night since I got them about two weeks ago. I'm about to travel overseas and plan to take them along, since they fold up so tiny. They've even prompted a couple of admiring remarks from the wife, so what's not to like?" but

light and warm
These microweights are incredibly light as the name might suggest. I simply forget I'm wearing them, except that I'm reminded when I notice how warm I am. They don't itch at all, and are easy to wash/dry. Also, they and the matching top fold down to almost nothing, so they'll be perfect for super-compact traveling (to avoid those checked luggage fees at airports).

Love Them!!
Very comfy! I was worried they might itch being wool, but they're really nice and not too heavy.
