My new baselayer
January 11, 2012

Over the past 10years or so id been using the UnderArmor Cold Gear Baselayers on all my ski trips. They worked well keeping me warm but I noticed after 8 hours on the mountain in them they began to become uncomfortable. Also if you sweat at all throughout the day they would smell awful. A friend recommended I try smartwool and Im glad I did. I purchased the midwieght for maximum warthm and I must say I will not hit the slopes without these on for my baselayer. Increadibly warm, and apparently the claims of odor not being able to stick to the fabric is true. I wore the same base shirt and pants for four 7-8 hour days on the mountain and when I tossed them in the wash all I could smell was detergent from the last time they had been cleaned. We would come back from the mountain and insist my buddy wash his UA's everyday because he plain stunk up the car on the ride home. The only thing id like to see is the price of smartwool come down but as of now I have no regrets.
