SmartWool MicroWeight
August 23, 2011
I am a little disappointed in this particular shirt. First of all, the xxl fits me very tight. The shirt discolored in spots, after the first wash. The Merino wool is very comfortable and lightweight, but I found it restricting. This would be a good shirt for layering as a bottom layer, but that's it. I can't wear it by itself. I have a large athletic build, and if you're similar,I would not recommend.
Cons: Wears quickly, Low performanceGreat baselayer/hiking shirt
January 13, 2012
I wore this as my primary hiking shirt/baselayer on a 4 day backpacking trip to the Wallowas in August and it performed well. Even though it may was a little warmer than a comparable synthetic base layer it wicked moisture incredibly well and dried quickly. The design makes it comfortable to wear all day under a pack with no chafing. While not odor-free it was much less smelly than synthetic base layers I've used in the past on similar length trips. Even though it performed well in the summer I think it will be even better suited to spring and fall hiking.

If you are tired of wearing synthetic shirts that smell within 20 minutes of wearing them then this is the shirt. I have worn this shirt for the last 6 months on hiking and backpacking trips. You can be on a strenuous hike or backpacking and wear this and still not be disgusting
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valueSnug, high-quality baselayer

This is a somewhat snug fitting baselayer. It's a bit warmer than you would expect from the thin fabric. It wicks and breathes well. I only wear my other base layers for hiking but this one is so nice looking, I wear it out from time to time.

This shirt is awesome! Holds up after many washes and is the perfect weight for layering. Dries quickly and is always comfortable. my only complaint is that it seems to hold on to odor even after washing.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: holds on to odorGreat

Bought for my son to run in and use as a bottom layer for skiing. He wears this a lot--says it is very comfortable and also does not get smelly.

I wore this short mountain biking in July. When I was finished I was wet. The shirt was totally dry when I drove home 25 minutes later. It was odor free and very comfy! I recommend wool.

Smartwool as a baselayer
December 22, 2011
I have been very pleased with all my Smartwool purchases throughout the years and this micro base layer shirt is no exception. On a warmer day you can wear this alone. It looks great and does a good job of not absorbing odor for a good few days. I backpack quite a bit and this baselayer is great and lightweight.

I purchased this for a variety of outdoor activities ranging from football games, fishing, and hunting. I own three smartwool shirts and love them all. They do not hold odor, they are excellent for wicking persperation and keep you warm without the bulk. Merino wool is without question the best layering garmet I have found. I wear Smartwool fishing, waterfowl hunting, deer hunting from Canada to Kentucky. This stuff really works. Highly recommend. A+++++++
