Great socks if a little on the warm side
January 03, 2012
These are great wool socks that appear to be made with great care. The fit is super comfortable and not too thick which is sometimes a problem with wool running socks in my experience. I would, however, reserve them for outdoor running as opposed to running at the gym because they can get a bit hot.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useRunning Socks

I love Smartwool socks and I have been running in these for years. I find the Smartwool to be more comfortable than other brands. They seem to not bunch up or wrinkle, but they are also not too tight or constrictive.
Pros: Performancegreat sock for your lowtop hikers

Another great product from smartwool. One of the best wicking socks I own thats not a full length hiking sock. They do run on the small side of the size chart thou. I wish they would price these a little lower but you get what you pay for. Great performance and long life.
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceBest Smartwool Sock

I have 5 different Smartwool sock types and this is my favorite. These are great for hiking or casual biking but I also just wear them around town as everyday socks. They have a little more cushion on the heel and ball than the Outdoor Ultra Light.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceSmartwool is the best!

I cannot believe just how much better Smartwool is compared to other merino wool socks on the market. The construction design and quality is second to none. The merino content is higher than that of its competitors. This sock fits better than the competition. It's got a good amount of stretch but it never feels tight or constrictive. This sock comes up high enough in the front and back (around the ankle) so as to protect your lower leg from abrasions against the shoe. This sock has cushioning where you need it and none where you don't. This sock is basically perfect. As for the fuzzies from washing: follow the laundry instructions. Turn the socks inside out before washing. This really does make a difference.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, moisture wickingSocks get fuzzy after washing

So these socks are nice but they become extremely fuzzy after washing them. I'm not sure if it is something that I am doing wrong but it's something to think about. Thorlo's don't get this way.... also despite what everyone says, these do shrink a touch, not much, but they do shrink a little. Still fit great and will buy more, just gotta figure out how to make them not fuzzy...
Amazing running socks

I bought these for casual jogging, and I love them. The fit feels snug, supportive, and works well in my running shoes. The socks stay in position and keep my feet really quite dry and non-stinky. Very pleasant, seem super durable though I've only owned them a week.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useHusband Loves them!

My husband just went hiking with them this past weekend and said the socks were so comfortable and amazing. He also thinks they would be great for running! Color and size were exactly as promised on the site.

Overall good quality, comfort and warmth compared to the average cotton sock. I do think the sock is overpriced.

Sorry, but it's true. Anyway, a superb sock that I use for general wear and when playing golf. These keep my feet comfortable and have worked well in M*r*ll and F**tj*y shoes. I have also found them to wear much better than another popular competitor. *Seemingly* pricey, but not so much in light of the excellence of the product.
Pros: Build qualityEveryday sock

Smartwool running socks is all I wear on a daily basis. You'll want to throw your cotton socks out. These run a little thicker and don't tend to wear as quickly as the other phd's.

I've used Smartwool socks for long day-hikes and getting to campus in the rain and snow, and they are wonderful. I'd recommend this item (Phd Outdoor Light Micro Socks) for more casual wear, say if you're walking around town all day.

If you have tried Smartwool, you will never want to go back to cotton or polyester. Simply excellent socks.
