Great running socks! They keep hard working feet comfy and dry. Looks don't matter on the inside of a shoe, but they are pretty cool looking too. Will definitely buy more.

Switched from UA to Smartwool
January 31, 2012

For a couple of years I have been using UA socks for my running and workout sessions but someone recommended the Smartwool running socks. I purchased one pair as a test and after a week I decided to buy several more to replace the UA socks. The natural feel of the PhD Running Lightweight Micro socks is amazing and the PhD design provided more cushioning than I thought possible along with a snug supportive fit. My feet actually feel cooler than from the UA socks. After a couple of months now I have been using the same 4 pairs daily (30-40min runs 3-4 times/week & other forms of cardio 2-3 times/week) and they are durable with no signs of wear. I just recently used these socks as daily walking wear on a 2 week vacation in Hawaii and they were awesome. I can easily recommend the Smartwool PhD Running Lightweight Micro sock to anyone. They are worth the investment.

smartwool running socks
January 22, 2012

These socks not only look stylish but are made of very high quality materials. I have several pairs and they are my favorite socks. They are warm, thicker than an average white sock. I am very pleased with them and look forward to purchasing more in the near future.

AWESOME SOCKS
January 05, 2012

My husband has worn only smart wool socks for the past eight years. He will not wear anything else!! He has sweaty feet which are extremely prone to blisters and these socks wick the moisture and keep him blister free. Aside from this, the socks are comfortable and last very long.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Best socks ever

Once I bought one pair of these socks, I became an addict. So comfortable, breathable and they don't stink. Works well in the heat and cold. Bought several pairs. Highly recommended.

Great !
November 04, 2011

I don't run, I bought these for daily use (active home life with kids), so I guess I did buy them for a sort of running. They wick wonderfully, thinker than I thought they would be, but apparently Smartwool makes a thinner model which I will try out next. If they are anything like my other Smartwool socks, I can plan on using these for years before they start to wear out.

Comparison against ultra lights
October 13, 2011

I've been wearing 3-4 pairs of ultra lights for a few months now and they are starting to degrade, especially at the ball of my foot. Little or no smell after workouts. The ball area of the lights appears a little stronger. Very comfortable. Can't go wrong with smartwool.

Pros: Build quality
Cons: Cost

Excellent Sock - Be Prepared to Buy More
September 27, 2011

I love these socks. To me, the right amount of thickness, without being too thick or too thin. Keep in mind, I am prefential towards a slightly thicker sock. They are wool, so feet tend to dry faster and stay dry - A huge plus. However, if you do put in some serious miles, they will deteriorate. This is a problem, if you like them as much as I do, because you will keep coming back for more. I have been training for a couple marathons this fall and have worn out some of my older pairs and bought some new a couple weeks ago. The new ones are holding up well, but I fully expect them to show wear soon. The good news is that since they are a little thicker, they do tend to last longer than very thin wool socks from smart wool. All in all, a great sock for day to day use and runners who prefer a slightly thicker sock. Just be prepared to fall in love with these wool socks. They can be an expensive addiction for those of us that put in a considerable amount of miles each week!

great sock for all weather conditions
September 21, 2011

I ran in the ultra light version for years, but switched to the light version due to a need for more cushion. These fit the bill perfectly. They wick away moisture just like the ultras and they don't feel bulky in the toe box or heel areas. After this first wash, the wool fibers pill, but it's more cosmetic because the performance remains constant. Like them so much I recently purchased more!

Favorites!
June 28, 2011

I wear these socks as often as possible! Smartwool is definitely the brand to choose when you want to get quality socks that will leave your feet feeling comfortable even after intense activity. They help keep odor down in my shoes and are cushiony, yet light enough that they don't make it feel like there is too much material in my shoe. I have several pairs!

Loved these socks after first putting them on, cushioning is great and still is. However, after two washes it has become very fuzzy despite taking all the usual washing precautions. Very comfortable, but I'm a little disappointed for the price paid. Altrec service was great as usual

Amazing!
December 06, 2010

I never knew what a difference really good socks can make. These are without a doubt THE MOST COMFORTABLE socks I have ever worn. I tried Smartwool on the recommendation of a friend and I am so glad I did. First off, the feel of the sock against your skin is so soft and comfy, it's, dare I say, soothing. The socks have just enough elastane in them to give a snug fit without feeling tight. The arch brace is a nice touch and really keeps the sock in place. This sock isn't cheap but boy is it worth the price.

Very Comfortable Socks
October 05, 2010

I bought a ton of smartwool socks hoping for the best, and my hopes were answered. They fit your foot like a glove...for your foot...a glove made of the finest stretchy merino wool. You cannot go wrong with these socks.

Buy Smartwool socks, they are the best!
June 02, 2010

I have used many different Smartwool socks over these years that are great, and these PHD Running Light Micros are no exception. The shape of the cut fits feet well, the thickness is just right for cushioning but not too much, the wool keeps your feet cool and dry by improving evaporation of sweat, and overall leave your feet feeling more comfortable after exercise. I also use these for daily wear. They also seem to last a long time.

Great socks!

Great for running, walking, and zumba class! I only wear Smartwool socks and these don't disappoint. Don't slip and keep my blister-prone feet blister free.

Smartwool socks are great!
April 22, 2010

I have many pairs of Smartwool socks and they are all the best socks ever. At first I was hesitant to buy such expensive socks, but boy am I glad I did. My feet stay dry all day long, in any shoes. I will definitely be buying more of these.

Best ever
March 22, 2010

I bought 2 pr. for me and two for my husband and I don't think I'll ever buy any other kind of sock again for walking. I am walking a half marathon this fall and these will definitley be on my feet. Order your normal size. I have both the light and the ultra light- I like both equally.

EXCELLENT

My daughter asked for these for Christmas. She is a server and on her feet several hours everyday. She felt these socks would give her the comfort, and cushioning she needs for this work. She loves them and is wearing them everyday.

Best running socks ever
December 12, 2008

I have tried a lot of the rest and these are the real deal. I bought four pair about 6 months and 1000 miles ago and have almost exclusively used these four pair and they are still growing strong. Don't let the wool fool ya, I live in AZ and they breathe great!
