Great socks
I wear these wonderful thick cushioned socks in the winter and summer. Smart Wool socks are the best, I don't need liners with them. I use them for backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. They are very versatile.

Very comfortable
As my doctor says, I have no fat on my feet. Very thick socks help prevent soreness after a long hike. These socks are very thick and fitted to my foot. Because like all heavy socks that compact on the bottom after a long hike, I turn them inside out when washing them to help "revive" the nap and softness. It works with these socks. The seems are flat and do not cause discomfort. I would buy them again.

Smartwool
I have chosen Smartwool as my hiking sock for many years...the best. I had never seen the Mountaineering version. I ordered three pairs from the discount section and I would normally wear a Medium size men 6-8.5, wmn 7-9.5, but these are oversized, order down to a Small on the ones from the discount section. Other than that they are great! The padding is more extensive than the Trekking Version.

Comfortable, durable, breathable socks!
These socks are both durable and breathable. I wore them five days and they didn't smell. They dry quickly and are warm, but not too warm so that my feet sweat.

very good
These are the absolute best socks we have found! My husband and I both love them. They are extremely well cushioned, and the wool does not irritate our allergies. No issues with throwing them in the washer and dryer. I plan to buy more pairs for our kids and grandkids.

Smartwool strikes again
These socks are amazing. They kept my feet warm even after I feel thru the ice and soaked my feet. Also they are the most comfortable heavy socks I have ever worn

Whole lotta cushion
Bought these socks for cold and wet weather hiking to use with polypro liners and lightweight GTX mid boots. Excellent cushioning and insulation. Very, very thick and comfy. Keep this in mind. You might need an extra 1/2 size in your boots to accommodate the extra volume.

Foot Protection
Feet are kept dry and free from abrasion under the severest of conditions. Excellent for long treks in harsh conditions. Will purchase this item again.

Great fit
Wonderful fit, excellent quality, and most importantly - keeps my feet (which tend to get cold easily) very warm. I found the length absolutely spot on and the cushioning in the heel very supportive. I will definitely purchase these socks again.

Blanket for the Foot
The knit is thick but still comfortable. The material breathes well and provides additional cushion, allowing for custom fit. Unlike other Smartwool socks that I have; however, the material has more stretch and flex. I prefer a sock that maintains its size and has a lesser degree of stretch.

Great socks with mountaieering boots
I use this in my Scarpa Triolet with custom orthotics. It was hard to get all 4 elements work well together - my feet, orthotics, boots, and heavy duty socks. This worked the best. No blisters during a trial hike when used with Bridgedale liners. See a few lose threads on the inside and wonder if they would come apart after a few uses and washed.

Best Hiking & High Altitude Socks
These are true to size, and you will appreciate the contours that they have put into this master piece, it hugs the feet in the right places. I took a change and ordered five of these and they are keepers. I highly recommend these.

Comfy and warm
The mountaineering sock is exactly what I've been looking for. The sock is very thick which will provide the warmth needed in high altitude and is comfy which protected me from getting blisters.

Haven't use them yet for climbing in Ecuador but I will in a couple of days. They feel very comfy and soft but are a bit bulky which is good for hard plastic boots but they may be a bit to big for standard hiking boots you may already own.

Warmest Socks Ever!
I love these socks! They are extremely comfortable and warm. Well worth the cost. I have been purchasing Smart Wool socks for years and they have never failed me. These are another great addition to keep my feet warm and dry during winter activities!

Because of a heart condition, my husband has a problem keeping his feet warm. He was very pleased with these socks. He says they are very comfortable and warm. Very well worth the price.

Best feeling socks ever
As a person who HATES, to wear socks and shoes and prefers to go barefoot, these were an amazing a find. It has many years since I found a pair of socks that I thought actually felt good on my feet. I am in-love with these socks, they feel extraordinary on my feet and will be the only socks I buy from now on. Well worth it!!

Couldn't wear cotton anymore. These give me the cushion I need
Could not wear cotton socks anymore, and my sister sent me three different socks to try. The Smartwool Xtra Heavy mid-Calf socks did it for me, on my feet 12 hours per day. Bought another six pair and wore them for three years. Just recently noticed they were getting thin in a few extreme pressure-point spots. Plenty of cushion left in the heel and front of foot (ball, etc) so ordered the four you had in stock and waiting on four or five more. Gone now dip the tops of the old ones in boiling water to kill the elastic some and use them for working around the house instead of my moccasins, which I have more for protecting my regular wear Smartwools. Please get me those four-five additional pairs matching so I can begin using these all as a set (equal wear).
