It's the best neckgaiter I have ever owned, light but warm, and extremely comfortable

Stylish and warm
April 24, 2011
I bought this to match a hat of the same color scheme. I didn't wear this exclusively in the winter months, but when I did...people always commented on how the two matched. Aside from style...the Smartwool (wool) is not itchy on the neck at all and helps to regulate your temperature (not too hot to make you sweat). It actually feels more like cotton.Pros: Ease of use, stylish
Essential winter item

I have other Smartwool products which I love, but I ask myself how did I ever get through winter before I had the Smartwool neckgaiter. So soft and comfortable, and as other reviewers have pointed out, keeps you warm even when you sweat. It's great for any outdoor activity, and I have found it particularly welcome when shoveling snow, because it keeps your neck warm and unlike a scarf doesn't keep unwrapping itself and getting in your way as you move around. Great as a hat or folded in half as a headband. Awesome and a must have.Pros: Performance, soft and comfortable, looks great

I purchased this item because I love the smart wool socks. It is very warm and soft, not scratchy like normal wool items.

Great neck warmer
March 07, 2011
I bought this for single digit winter running when you have to have something over your mouth. Unlike soft fleece neck warmers, it doesn't suffocate you, and unlike buffs, which are otherwise great for neck warming, it doesn't collapse into your mouth when you breathe. Best of all it is very soft. It also washes well (I did air dry it to prevent possible shrinkage). It's pretty much a perfect product.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, soft, easily washable

Smartwool neckgaiter is very comfortable and stretches quite easily. The odor eliminator of the smartwool works exceptionally well. Item works good at keeping the cold out and warmth in and is still made easy to breath.
apropos use of merino

Considering that a neck gaiter is frequently in direct contact with both your nose and mouth, the anti-stink properties of merino wool are especially suited to this piece of gear. I had to borrow a synthetic gaiter from a friend recently and it smelled really quite awful. If you are on the fence about trying this new generation of merino baselayer gear a neck gaiter is an inexpensive way to get exposure to the material. Be advised that the navy stripe color is not approved by the ski-ninja brotherhood.
