Good socks
December 26, 2011
The socks are good, they are soft with nice cushioning. The color is great and they seem like they're made of really sturdy and long lasting material. The only dislike is the price for the one pair of socks but there's not much to do about that. You want socks with a great feeling? Be smart, get smartwool.

a must have in winter
November 24, 2010
Honestly I am not picky about socks. But you would probably be happy to get just one good wool made socks along with many other cotton socks. It is comfy on the thick material and of course warmer that keeps sweat away from a damp feeling.
Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostThe Only Sock I Wear
December 26, 2010
I've worn nothing else in the cool and cold climates for over 5 years. I use a sock liner when its' wicked cold. Now the entire family wears them.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueI don't buy anything else!

Of all the socks I have, Smartwool come out on top. Yes, they're a little more expensive and can be a little hot sometimes, but when it comes to hiking boots and shoes, the light hikers are a staple for me year after year.
Worth every penny

These socks are well worth the price. Very comfortable and dry, even in summer months.

LOVE!
April 10, 2011
these are such great hiker/backpacking socks. they're VERY comfy and stay dry-even if they get a little damp, stick them by the fire and they dry quickly. i wear a 7-7.5 shoe and have this same sock in small and medium sizes, i think the small fit better (that said, just because the mediums are a bit large, it's not a bother). seriously worth the price -they will last and your feet will thank you.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueThe best light hiking sock in the business!

These are the best of the best for light hikers. They don't bag out, they stay up because of the ribbing, they conform to your foot, they wick AND keep you warm....I can say enough good things about them!
i love these socks

Love these socks!!

These socks are great. I wore them on my 12 mile hike in Yosemite to half dome. They kept my feet nice and dry and the light padding made my feet very comfortable. They fit true to size. Would highly recommend. Love smart wool
Great Socks, Run Big?
November 17, 2010
The socks are very warm, soft, stretchy, and comfortable. I like them better than similar "Darn Tough" wool socks, especially for the nice flat toe seam. The light-weight crew sock is actually thicker than I expected-- its weight is what I would have expected for a medium-weight sock. My only reservation is that the sock is too roomy in the toe and heel (which is the only reason I gave 4/5 stars for Comfort). I'm a size 7.5 or 8 and ordered a medium since their size chart recommended a medium for sizes 7 through 9.5, but they're much too roomy to wear for hiking. The extra material in the toe and heel would cause chafing. I like the socks enough though to buy a second pair in size small and see if that's a better fit.

really warm, but not bulky at all
December 31, 2009
I'm used to Smartwool socks and love those, but these were just as warm and not quite as bulky making them a little more comfy inside my boots. They fit great, snug but not tight, and I am happy to have them this winter keeping me warm.
Great Socks!

These socks were just perfect for what I wanted them for...hiking in cold to moderate weather. They have great padding where you need it without being too bulky. They keep my feet feeling good throughout long hikes.

Everyone seems to love the SmartWool socks, so I decided to try them: 2 pairs each of the light and the medium. I haven't tried the medium yet, but the light ones are so comfortable that, along with my sweet Merrell Moab Ventilators (also purchased from Altrec), I feel as if I'm walking on clouds. These socks do not make my feet hot or cause them to sweat, as do cotton ones. They also hug my feet and don't slip down or bunch up -- basically, they stay put. It is SO nice not to have to think about my feet, except to marvel at how good they feel.
Just a great sock!

The perfect light hiking sock. Thanks.

I love these socks. They are my go to hiking socks and they come in cute girly colors. Very comfortable, durable and thick enough for cushion but not so thick that they become uncomfortable in shoes.
Confusing Purchase
February 28, 2013
I've worn Smartwool socks for years. They are high quality and last a very long time. I placed two orders for these socks from Altrec, but received the wrong size. Both times Altrec offered to exchange them free of charge. With the second error, I took the socks to a local store to compare. Mine were obviously in the wrong packaging, incorrect sizing. I called Smartwool and they mentioned a mixup at their factory, and apologized. I called Altrec to let them know what Smartwool had said. I gave the huge socks to a friend.

SmartWool Socks
April 11, 2013
My husband bought me these before a trip to Colorado. I was not a huge fan of wool before these socks. I live in Texas and really had no reason to wear wool that much. I thought that all wool was itchy and uncomfortable. Not these! The socks are soft, but kept my feet very warm. I even wear them to work now.

good quality, comfortable to wear
November 11, 2011
My footsize is 8.5 and I have small feet and size medium fits very well. The socks are very comfortable to wear, not to tight around the ankle. And even after few times regular washing they still look good.

Best socks ever
December 20, 2008
These are the best hiking socks ever. They are soft, warm, stay dry all day and last forever. They are not dressy, but Smartwool has other great casual socks. Wear these and be comfortable all day, no blisters or clammy feet.

Butter on my feet
December 12, 2010
I have always been a huge fan of these socks. They never compromise quality in contruction, and are the most comfy thing I've ever put on my feet. I love that they keep my feet dry, and warm in snow, or cool in the heat.

warm and light socks
December 10, 2009
Great socks, medium weight, soft and warm. And they do not fall down. Smartwool is the best I wear wool socks and peds all year long, they also keep your feet cool in summer. They do not stay wet if your feet sweat or even if your feet get soaked from the rain.
