Fit Tip: So warm, a great base layer for skiing, the torso runs a little short so it wont peak out under your top layer.
Featuring a classic neckline design with flatlock comfort seams, the SmartWool Women's Midweight Crew is the perfect next-to-skin layer for forays into alpine environments. SmartWool 100% jersey knit Merino wool, the perfect body temperature regulator, keeps you warmer in the cold, as tiny air pockets provide an insulating layer of natural air. With wool being the most efficient moisture management material on the market, the functional Microweight Crew will keep you dry, itch free, odor free, and ensure all day comfort. Washer and dryer friendly, this easy to care for garment is shrink free.
Love My Smartwool
We live in the "lake effect" area and live in Smartwool. I wear this as a sweater by itself and/or as a layer to go outdoors. It is fitted enough to just throw on with jeans and boots and head to the wine bar for the evening...and warm enough to keep you from freezing on the walk there.
Not bulky but extremely warm!
I work outside at night and this base layer is not bulky and keeps me warm. I am in the chicago land area and this winter has been very cold. I haven't pulled out my carharts yet because of this layer. I bought more than one....
Perfection. Need I say more?
Ok I will--I love merino wool, and smartwool does it best. I have the midweight crew in other colors, but I was thrilled to see it in natural heather--a perfect undershirt. Cozy, warm, breathable, and I can wear it a few days in a row with no odor!!

Not too hot, not too cold. Just right!
I bought the Women's Midweight Crew as a base layer to wear while cycling. I love how good it feels! I tried a silk base layer, and never felt warm. Now I put on the Midweight Crew, then a fleece layer to keep in the warmth, and finally a wind breaker layer. I can ride like this in the thirties-forties with complete comfort. When I warm up, I take off the fleece layer and still feel comfortable. Great product! I later bought the SmartWool Midweight Bottoms because I was so happy with the Crew.
