Warm, comfortable, easy to take care, durable, little pricey but worth it. Like the zip feature. Can wear casually or under sweaters or by itself under a jacket.

change in sizing
December 20, 2011

I am 5'2" and weigh 112 pounds. I am usually a size small. In Smartwool, I have always bought a size Medium, because they ran a bit small - and medium always fit great. But this new line of baselayer underwear is VERY SMALL. I couldn't fit into the size medium bottoms. They were very uncomfortable. I also didn't like the new way they put a wider hem on the bottom of the pants. It makes it look like the old-fashioned long underwear. The "new look" is just not flattering, and fits lousy.

Pros: Build quality
Cons: Cost, Bad design

warm and lovely.
November 26, 2011

hi ordered these midweight bottoms to pair with the midweight crew neck top that i always wear on camping trips when it gets into the late fall and winter months in minnesota. i absolutely swear by the top and knew that the bottoms would more than likely live up to the same expectations and they do. when camping, i wear only these layers to bed in my sleeping bag and find myself warm enough to make it through the night on chilly fall/winter nights. i also wear both the top and bottoms under snow gear in the winter for snowshoeing and various other outdoor activities. they are well worth the cost and will last for years.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, warm as a baselayer or single layer

The best wool base layer made
March 10, 2011

As my nickname says, I live outdoors year round and smartwool allows me to do this in comfort when cold temperatures once again make themselves known in fall, winter and all the way till spring. Weather I am in the desert southwest or high country mountains I always have my smartwool tops and bottoms packed and ready in my backpack. It's my base layer for survival a "must have" if you wish to tackle the outdoors comfortably. And if you wash in soap made for wool, they last many seasons. A quality product, not itchy, fits true to size.

Smartwool midweight bottoms-very happy with item
March 05, 2011

I am very happy with my purchase of Smartwool midweight bottoms. They are very comfortable. I initially purchased as a baselayer to go skiing, but I have ended up wearing them around the house because they are so comfortable. I haven't went skiing in them yet but they are very warm from my experience wearing them around. I have had them less than a week so I cannot comment on durability. The cost is the only issue I have, hopefully they will last a long time.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, fit, comfort
Cons: Cost

Really warm and cozy baselayer
February 16, 2011

I was hesitant to spend this much $ on a baselayer and now I am so glad that I did. These baselayer bottoms are soft and warm, I can wear them under unlined shellpants and stay warm in 20 degree weather. In fact I started to wear them in the house so I can keep my thermostat temperature lower.

this went to Alaska and was part of a layering system. It was worn all the time. One advantage is that they don't stink. even after wearing several times. I love Smart Wool.

Amazing!!!
December 23, 2010

I'm always cold. I mean always, I wear knee high socks year round, I'm wearing a sweatshirt when others are in tank tops. I bike to work and around town and in the winter it is terrible!! I freeze on the way to work to the point of pain and it takes me hours to warm up. I have lots of friends tell me about Smartwool, but the socks didn't work for me and so I didn't want to pay an enormous amount for the thermal bottoms just to find out they weren't any better than what I had. BUT I WAS WRONG. I wore them in 40, 20, 10, and windchill of -10 and while I was cold, it didn't HURT. And I warmed up within 10 or 15 min. I'm sold! Also they are long. I'm 5'11" and womens thermal bottoms never come much below my calves, but these go all the way to my ankles. Even when I'm biking and have to ruck them up a bit for knee room. Also they are fairly thin and don't bunch up around my waist like most other larges would (I'm only a size 8, but have to buy for length). Despite the cost I'll buy these again.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, lenth
Cons: Cost

very warm
December 01, 2010

I would very much recommend these bottoms to any of my girlfriends! I just moved to Wisconsin, and the weather out here is extremely cold and windy. So owning this has been a life safer walking to school. My only concern buying these online was the size. I'm a pretty petite 20-something girl (5'3, 105lbs) and a size small worked out perfect. They are tight enough to fit over jeans, but not to the point that you feel like you are wearing spandex.

Very cozy!
November 18, 2010

These underwear are very warm and comfortable, they seem to be true to size, and fit well under jeans. I am usually cold all winter, but these pants keep me very warm. I would definitely recommend them!

Pros: Build quality
Cons: Cost

awesomely warm
January 26, 2010

These fit me well; I'm 5'7" 125 and am usually super cold, no matter what. These are the best long underwear I've ever owned; I definitely would recommend them!

Great baselayer
January 26, 2010

I love this base layer. this is my second pair. I bought black and brown. I love smartwool pants, just wish that they had more colors and styles to purchase. It wears well. and looks good after washings. It is great to wear under pants or under a skirt with boots.

comfortable, warm and stylish
January 19, 2010

SmartWool has done it again. Product is exactly as advertised: moisture wicking, comfortable, lightweight, and keeps you warm. The only thing that's not great is that it's expensive. You get what you pay for though!
