Lightweight and fits great
February 14, 2012

Purchased for my 13 year old snowboarding son, who wanted a lighter weight helmet for his birthday. He's used it 4 times and his comments are: the helmet is very lightweight and more streamlined in styling than his Bolle helmet. He loves that the earpads are thinner so it's easier to hear people talking, plus less pressure when he's wearing earbuds. His ears stay warm. He likes the venting system and says it makes his head stay warm without sweating. Thinner, more comfortable head padding. Good goggle keeper/strap at back. Good looking helmet. I ordered him the medium, which luckily was sized slightly larger than the Bolle, and it's perfect.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, very lightweight

Good helmet for the price
January 10, 2012

Had this helmet 2 weeks and have no significant complaints. Definitely just as light as everyone says. The biggest thing that surprised me was how much of a difference the few vents the helmet has actually make when opened. I didn't think I would notice a difference whether the vents were opened or closed, but the make a big difference in temperature regulation. The ventilation system also seems to really help prevent my Smith I/O goggles from fogging. Fits true to sizing chart. My head measured in the middle of the range for L and it fits very well. Cannot comment on the durability since, I haven't had it long.

Maze Helmet
December 30, 2011

Just got a chance to test the Maze helmet and I love it. Super light, good quality, classic style and keeps your head warm at the same time. Ear flaps are removable for those warm days. You might want to get a size larger if your going to wear a beanie underneath.

So Light!
November 19, 2011

This helmet is truly as light as everyone says it is. I've hit the slopes a couple times already with this helmet and it seems to do the job as far as protecting my head! If your head size sits on the fence between sizes, I would definitely recommend moving to the larger size.

Excellent.
November 01, 2011

I wore this helmet last year in white and just ordered the black from Altrec. EXTREMELY light and breathes well. Interesting feature that's not mentioned: You can close the vents from the inside in the front and back with a piece of the liner that is velcro. Works well with bolle goggles. Basically you forget this helmet is on: It's that lightweight and comfortable.

ABOUT SMITH
August 23, 2011

Love, Love, Love this helmet!!! This helmet is perfect for men who do not like helmet for feel that it is too heavy for their heads. Its very light weight and you don't feel it. Has soft knits that keep your head warm while on the mountains. I find it hard to find a helmet that fits my head well and is comfortable. This helmet fulfills that need. Its very lightweight, supposedly the lightest snow helmet available. I love the toque fabric that covers it; its pretty much what sold me. And the added removable magnetic poof ball on top is always fun. I love Smith products in general and I was psyched to have my first helmet be the Maze.

February 09, 2011

This is the helmet for people who always have excuses for not wearing one. It's feather light, comfortable and the graphic is awesome too. I bought a Medium and it just fits like a glove. Definitely should get one if you are looking for light helmet and wearing it all day long, this will be the solution for you.

Light as a Feather!
February 05, 2011

This helmet is practically weightless! Feels like you are wearing nothing at all...truly amazing! An excellent all-around, no-nonsense board/ski/skate/etc. helmet. I was on the verge of Small-Medium and went up to Medium...glad I did. Excellent selection of colors. I got the basic matte black and plan to paint something fantastic on it to give it my own flair! The zip in headphone system is simple to use...I just used some old earbuds, zipped 'em in the earpieces and BAM! Tunes all day long! If you want to buy the Skull-candy twin tip, it makes this set-up even sweeter.

Great fit and Warm
January 17, 2011

I just purchased this in extra large, black and wore it snowboarding for the first time yesterday. The temp on the mountain was about 20 degrees fahrenheit and my head was warm all night. The helment has great ventilation and my head didn't get cold when the winds picked up. The padding in the helment felt the best of the other brands I tried for my head size. For my size helmet, it looks wide but it is expected for my large head. The only draw back on the features of the helmet is the design of the goggle strap clip - opens from the bottom and is just a hook so you have to make sure the strap is tucked it so it doesn't slide down.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, light
Cons: looks bulky

Very Comfortable
January 16, 2011

I did a lot of research before purchasing this helmet. From what I found it is the best snowboard helmet on the market. It is very lightweight and comfortable. My head size was just on the border of a small and a medium so I purchased a Medium. I think a small will be a better fit so I am exchanging.

Super light helmet
January 04, 2011

This helmet is probably the lightest I've ever used, but at the same time good looking. I didn't want the boring black color this time so I went with the Slate Good Word, and it's fantastic! Simple yet elegant! Can't wait to hit the slopes again with this helmet.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Cons: Cost

Simple, Light and Sturdy

I'm 5'3'' with a small head. This helmet is very light, nicely padded and is pleasing to the eye. I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others as well.

Great helmet
January 13, 2010

I'm a novice snowboarder and was only looking for something that aesthetically pleasing but when I got this helmet i realized I got more than I bargained for. I decided to go with the supernova which just looks awesome, and found out that this helmet was also super lightweight but still full of padding on the inside. My favorite feature about it are the very thick ear pads that have so far kept my ears very warm every time i'm out there. I have yet to take a fall and hit my head but i'm confident this helmet will absorb most the impact.

Worth It
November 09, 2009

When I picked up the box outside my front door, I wasn't sure if there was actually a helmet. It was incredibly light weight, but still obviously able to handle what it needs to. It fits awesome (XL). The ear muffs are also good enough that I won't have to wear a hat underneath my helmet like I did my previous helmet to keep my ears warm. Great buy.
