Great Helmet
March 04, 2012

Great helmet. Good quality construction. The vent system is really good and easy to use. Two sets of vents makes it really easy to regulate temperature on the mountain no matter what the temperature is. I can't really say anything bad about the helmet, if I had to make one complaint it would be that it could use a little more padding on the inside.

Smith Vantage Helmet--Great Product
January 11, 2012

A product one comes to expect from Smith--very high quality and functionality. I especially like the two venting systems which allow one to close or open them for more or less ventilation depending on the temperature. I also like the small brim and its ability to work well with goggles when needed. The only negative is the very high price--but you get what you pay for--in this case a great product.

Perfect Helmet
August 27, 2011

The key reason for me liking this so much are the adjustable vents that make this helmet comfortable in freezing cold and spring weather. Helmet is super light and comfortable and looks great (I really like the small brim it has). I also use this with the IOS goggles and the two work amazing together!

Smith Vantage
March 13, 2011

I tried on several other helmets in a store before purchasing the Smith Vantage. After using it on the slopes for real, I can now say the fit and comfort are excellent and worth the extra money. The adjustable vent settings are great along with the integration with their goggles.

Awsome Helmet
January 02, 2011

I just got this helmet and I love it. It is lightweight, comfortable, warm yet cool in the warmer weather we had this week. The vents work well. I put my own earphones in the ear pieces and it works well. This helmet is a bit expensive but it is money well spent. I don't feel like I'm wearing a helmet at all.

Thoughful design
December 21, 2010

After eschewing helmets for the last few years in favor of a d3o beanie, I finally decided to return to wearing head armor with the Smith Vantage. Prior to the beanie I have used various Giro helmets (the Fuse and G9) but thanks to my oversized noggin I couldn't shake the feeling that I looked like a bobble-head on the slopes. I'm not quite sure why, but the Vantage is either lower profile or is shaped in a way that doesn't magnify my head. Feature wise this helmet has all the bells and whistles one would expect from a high-end helmet: copious ventilation that is adjustable on-the-fly, light weight, style (really love the 2-piece look!), customizable fit, high tech stink-resistant liner, etc...But where this helmet truly differentiates itself from the rest of the pack is in its unique hybrid construction. The top half of the helmet utilizes a hard shell+impact liner construction whereas the lower half of the helmet is an in-mold style. I suspect that this is what contributes to the low profile of the helmet. It may also make the helmet more durable and tolerant of multiple impacts than 100% in-mold designs, but I have not verified this either via the manufacturer or safety regulatory agencies. Lastly, it just looks kinda cool which is enough for me. Downsides? Well...the adjustable vents are difficult to open/close with gloves off and virtually impossible with the gloves on due to the resistance of the sliding mechanism and the puny handles provided for moving the vents. There are also some manufacturing inconsistencies that mar its fit & finish (these will probably vary from helmet to helmet): 1) the x-static liner inside doesn't sit nicely within the helmet such that it is crumpled/folded instead of laying flat against the interior of the helmet and 2) the ratcheting fit straps are also a bit skewed so they don't remain centered on the helmet. Nevertheless in my book these issues are very minor, don't impact comfort or fit, and would not influence my buying decision.

Pros: Great design, Performance, low profile
Cons: Cost, some quality issues

Good Looking Comfortable Helmet!
November 21, 2010

Very low profile, attractive, light, breathable, and warm helmet. A little pricey but so worth it. Zero regrets!!! Highly recommend!!! Also, my head is exactly 58cm and the Medium is a perfect fit. If you're a little bigger that 58cm go with the large..

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
