Great fitting helmet
March 03, 2013
The helmet fits extremely well and is very comfortable. It managed to keep me warm on our recent trip to Banff. Fits perfect with my smith heiress goggles.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, comfortableBest ski helmet I have worn.

I used this helmet out of the box, getting it fit on the way to the hill in the car; very easy with the boa system. Cold day in the mountains, but the helmet did a great job of ventilating and keeping my goggles fog free [Smith I/OS]. I could even ventilate easily when overheating on the lift. The next day I was in the backcountry, the helmet is light enough that it does not feel like a burden to hike up with, I even wore it skinning back up when the wind was howling to keep me warm with vents open. Do not look further than this helmet for all-around performance.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Cons: CostComfortable Helmet for Petite Woman

The Smith women's variant brim helmet is awesome. This is my first helmet purchase. For the past 10 years, I skied with just a stocking cap, until a friend of mine recommended wearing a helmet to keep warm in cold conditions. Last year, I rented a helmet along with demo skis at JHMR, and really liked the warmth and security it provided. My husband and I spent an entire day when we got back shopping at our local ski stores in Milwaukee, and couldn't find anything that fit just right. After finding an awesome ski jacket for my husband on Altrec.com, I decided to come back to the website to read reviews in order to find the perfect helmet (since no one at the local ski shops here seem to know or care about equipment). After looking at different helmets online, we loved the video review of the Variant Brim Helmet by Smith. My husband and i each bought the Smith Variant Brim. My biggest challenge as a petite female is finding a helmet that comfortably fits my small head (about 51-52cm). I ordered the women's small variant brim in Shadow Purple (sorry, I got the last one!), and I love it! Last weekend, we went skiing here locally and it was in the 40s, so I had the vents open to stay cool. The helmet is so comfortable, easily adjustable, quite fashionable, and versatile in all conditions, be it sunny and warm, overcast and snowy, or a cold, bluebird day. It fits snug on my head, the ear pads are really soft and comfortable, and I can adjust the settings really easily, even with my mittens on. If it's really cold, I can remove the inside lining and replace with a warm beanie cap, and close the vents. I love this helmet and can't wait to try it out again when we go skiing at Alta/Snowbird next month. My next purchase from Altrec will be the matching Smith IOS goggles.
Pros: Great design, Ease of usea great purchase

This helmet is very warm. It fits extremely well and is a great great color, It makes me very visible on the mountain. I love the extra padding. My friends say they can more easily spot me on the mountian when I am skiing.
