Excellent boot for snoshoing
December 27, 2012
I have been buying Sorel 1964 boots since they were first introduced in 1964. They used to be made in Canada then switched.I find these new ones to be of comparable quality and still the best boot all around for cold winter use. There are so many models out now, it is hard to chose but these ones are high on my list. For the ultimate warmth you should dry the felt liners regularly. Better yet have a spare pair on hand. Some folls have commented on the weight. I do not find them heavy at all and they are extremely flexible given their bulk.

These boots fit very comfortable and are especially warm. I've worn them through a few snowstorms already and they perform great. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who wants a longlasting and really durable pair of boots. I am considering buying another pair for my wife.

Tried and true

This is my second pair of Sorel boots, (the first pair I had for over ten years.) The boots that I just purchased from Altrec are just as warm and comfortable as the pair that I retired and have the traction and ruggedness that I have come to expect from Sorel. I wear a 10.5 but Sorels always tend to run a bit large, so the size 10 fits just right.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuejust what the doctor ordered!

I got these snow boots for my Husband as a Christmas present. He loves them. Light weight, warm and best of all his feet stay warm and dry while out in the rain or snow.
Solid Boots

I originally purchased these boots last March for the coming winter, and there fortunately has not been a lot of snow. I used them twice and initially had a problem with one of the metal eye hooks for the laces coming apart from the stitching and couldn't tighten / tie them properly on the left boot. I contacted Altrec and they already had a new pair coming to me before I could print the return label to send them back. Their service is terrific, I received the replacment pair and I still love the boots. I plan to have them for years to come. They are heavy but they are WARM. I could care less about the weight as long as my feet are warm and nothing is going to get in these boots once laced up tight. I use them for shoveling / snowblowing and they are great.
Pros: durable, warm, Cons: a little heavysolid boot

True to size. I were a 9.5 & got the 9 based on previous reviews. All is good. Very warm. Can't wait to rock these! Hopefully we will get some needed snow soon.
Great Boots!

Sorel has the final say so when it comes to snow boots! I bought my first pair almost 20 years ago and are still wearing them without any leaks or problems! I purchased this pair for my brother and he says they are the best pair of snow boots he has ever owned.

i've only worn this pair 2x. so far, my reaction is that they are a bit heavy. BUT i'm getting used to it. have to give it a full run over a few weeks to truly see. also, for a size 10 they do come up in the back a little, so best to wear your laces tight. that said, we have had a lot of snow this season, and i feel like i am in a hummer when i walk around in these boots. can conquer puddle, snow, rain, everything. in fact, i actively seek out puddles so i can step in em ! cheezy, eh ? anyhow, i do recommend the boot, but again, i have only worn them 2x ..

I have bought these boots before and they have always worked great at keeping my feet warm and dry. I am very pleased with how fast I got the boots from Altrec.com. 3 days. I am sure that I will buy more stuff from them. Thank you.

My order defective

I got these as a gift, have heard great things about Sorels and was looking forward to having a pair. The ones I got had wrinkles in the inner sole and were unwearable. Quality seemed otherwise okay.

First, understand that this is NOT a hiking boot of any kind, this particular model has a very soft and flexible sole. Do not take this on a trail otherwise you're likely to puncture the sole with a branch or a rock. With that said, this boot is remarkably light, which was quite a boon for me. I wanted something that could handle the moisture of all weather conditions while maintaining warmth but without being so heavy you dread walking more than 5 minutes with them. I owned the North Face Chilkat boots and they were warm, waterproof and sturdy, so I thought, but they were so heavy to walk with. The point being is that the North Face boots I had could withstand a hike, but were so heavy who would want to endure that? Not me. And they ended up tearing in the top sole anyway. I like these Sorel's much better, they don't confuse what they're for, they are an all weather snow/rain boot, a veritable insulated galosh of sorts and they look pretty cool too. Run a little big, maybe half a size or so. I wear a 9 in dress shoes and between a 9.5/10 in athletic shoes and a 9 fits me just right, maybe even a little generous space left, which I'm fine with. Don't want too snug of a fit with these. I'm a fan.
I really recommend the snow boot.

I really recommend the snow boot. You can seperate outer boot and inner boot. It is very covenient. You can also wash inner boot. It was also very warm when I hiked to snow mountain.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great valueOverall, very nice

These boots are great for snowshoe hikes and romping around in the snow. Feet stay nice and dry. I like the heavy duty laces. The look is so-so, and traction is not superb. I usually wear a 10.5, but got a 10 in these boots. They fit is still pretty generous. Overall, they were a great buy for me.
Pros: dry, warm, easy to put on, price (around $65), Cons: the look, tractionAlready own the Sorel 1964 PAC T Snow Boots? Tell us your thoughts.
