Need waterproof snow boot for hiking, climbing & thought I'd found it w/this Sorel boot. I printed Sorel measuring chart as advised by othr reviewers. With thick sock I was close to size 8 (normally would wear 71/2 in boot w/thick sock). Boots arrived in 3 days(thank you Altrec) but they were waay too big. Felt like I had on Mickey Mouse shoes. Ordered size 7, arrived quickly. The length of 7 is good but after wearing both pairs around house & climbing stairs, the fit was not good. There is no shank in this boot so, no support or cushion for foot. The top of my feet became sore, then numb at the seam where the rubber meets the leather, very tight. I tried the sz8 w/Superfeet insole & that still didn't work. So I'm returning both pairs. Sorry Sorel, unless you make some design changes this is probably my 1st & last Sorel boot. Offer half sizes, cushion insole & widen instep area. Might work for someone with less demands from a boot.

a little hard to walk in, and clunky
December 08, 2012

I suppose snow boots are supposed to be clunky, but these are much much much bigger than my feet! I wear a size 6-6.5 in most shoes, and had to order a 7 here. They'll fit great with thick socks. Any smaller, and there would be no way for me to slip in & out of them. They are REALLY cute & stylish, though, which overcomes the clunky-ness. I also appreciate that they're waterproof & get the job done. I wish they were a little taller, too, since I'm short they look a little off. My biggest complaint is that they're hard to walk in - you really have to lift your foot up and set it down flat in front of you, causing you to take tiny baby steps. The back panel doesn't have any give, meaning when I reach out a foot to step with my heel first, it pulls my entire calf forward with it. It's awkard. I'm hoping they break in quickly, though.

Pros: stylish, look just like photo, Cons: clunky, hard to walk in
