Great boots
I decided to purchase these boots after I tried on my friend's pair. They're super comfortable, and not as heavy as the caribou's. Plus, their height makes them very warm and protects against mud and slush. Not to mention, they're super cute. True to size, maybe run a little large-I'm usually a 71/2 and the 7 fit me perfectly.

I didn't think I was going to be able to wear them this warm winter, but pulled them out recently on a snowy day. These boots are super warm, stylish, & comfortable. I usually wear a 9 or 91/2 and purchased a 9 & they fit great. I bought the black which I love, but a friend has them in brown which are cute too.

Love them!
Love these boots. They are hard to get on though. Once they are they are comfy and warm and fit great. I normally wear a size 9.5 so after reading the reviews that the boots ran large I got the size 9. Super happy with them thus far. Were having an unusually warm winter so I may not be able to throughly test them in the snow till next year. Also Altrec's service was exceptional! I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

I love my Sorel snow boots! They are cute, comfortable, and keep me warm and dry in the snow!! The felt lining is great and keeps your feet very warm.

Great Boots!
I bought these boots for my daughter for Christmas. I was looking for something completely waterproof but also something she would WANT to wear in the cold and snow. These are perfect! She has not waited for the snow to wear them! She thinks they are so good looking she wears them all the time. They are very comfortable and they keep her feet very warm. This was a great purchase!

Cozy toes!
These boots are perfect for deep snow and cold weather. They do fit a bit big but are perfect with wool socks. I am a size 7 and didnt go down a size when I ordered. Practically, these boots are fantastic. Style wise, they do look quite large on your feet and are heavy if you are tromping around for awhile. Definitely recommend them though!

Let it Snow!
Love the boots! I wasn't sure what size to order based on the other reviews. Some said order up and others said order down. I ordered up. I generally wear an 8.5 and ordered a 9. Too big - even with a thick sock. You definitely get the chunky winter boot feel with a larger size. It probably could've worked, but I sent them back and opted for the 8. Easy returning and reordering process - thanks, Altrec! Besides the size, these boots are cute and warm and great for the chilly Michigan winters.

PERFECT BOOTS!!!
I bought these in black and it just looks so perfect. I will be wearing them this month to go to Vail, CO for snowmobiling. I usually wear 8 1/2 but from the reviews, a lot said it runs big, so I got an 8 and they're perfect, I can still wear thick socks with them. The faux fur cuff just completes the boots, it's mix with black, brown color. I would get more in different colors in the future.

Boots for the next 20 years
I reluctantly retired my favorite pair of Sorel winter boots after wearing them for literally 20 years. I replaced them with the Joan of Arctic boot which came closest to look and feel to my favorite boot. Sorel makes their outerwear to last and while I would never expect that any item of clothing will last two decades of wear, it is nice to know that in today's throw-away society, some things continue to be made to last.
My new boots feel every bit as warm and solid as my old ones. I had selected the style online and was happy to receive my color and size of choice from Altrec while saving tax. I should be good for another couple of decades:)

Cozy Winter Boots
I love the style of these boots & they keep my feet very warm. They are easy to get on and off and the laces stay put once they are tied. My only complaint is how difficult it is to drive in these boots! The heel/shaft is somewhat unforgiving, making it is tough to flex and extend your ankle. I am hoping they break in a bit with wear. Not a big enough complaint to be dissatisfied though.

True to size boots
I bought these boots one size bigger because I wanted to be able to wear thicker socks with them. When I tried them on with thick socks, however, they were still too big. I would recommend you should either order them in your exact shoe size to wear them with thick socks, or order them a half size smaller to wear them with normal socks because they are true to size. Other than that, they are the best boots I have ever bought. Very comfortable and warm in the snow.

Soft, Warm and Cute
These boots are awesome. I got them last Christmas and was sad when summer came around and I had to stop wearing them. They fit my feet super when I wear my winter wool socks. Though, if I am wearing thin socks they do tend to rub against me achilles tendon/upper heal a bit, but I also have pretty funny feet and this tends to happen to be with most shoes. Otherwise, they are awesome.

Sorels are always your best bet
I have had a number of Sorel boots over the years and these do not disappoint. This is the second pair of Joan boots I have purchased and I really like the fact they lace up nice and tight and have seen me through many a snowdrift as we live where temperatures in the winter are below -15F. Some users note they are not as warm, but I tend to disagree. If you live in a colder climate and you know how to layer for the weather including wearing appropriate socks, they are perfect. For fit, I am a 9 1/2 and find that in all my Sorels, I move up to the 10.
All in all, a wonderful boot for a cold climate.

Wonderful!
Wet winter weather is dreary enough without having to wear less-than fashionable footwear to stay warm and dry. This boot was a WONDERFUL addition to my winter wardrobe - keeping my feet dry, toasty and well dressed. They do run a bit on the wide side, but it's rather nice to have a bit of toe-wiggle room even with thick socks.
I would HIGHLY recommend this boot to anyone looking for an alternative to the more classic-style winter/snow boots.

These boots are attractive, however, I found them to be rather stiff and straight, with no arch support (I have a high arch). I planned to use them to snowshoe, but I do not believe they would be such a good choice for that.

Great winter boot
My wife ordered these boots and has loved them. They look great on her and keep her feet warm and dry while walking/hiking through the snow. The boots look a lot better than I was expecting. The boots in general run a little big which is something to keep in mind if you like to wear 2 socks.

Great Looking and Function
The boot is on the heavy side and also runs on the large size too. It is great for all my northwest winter activities such as sledding, hiking around town slogging. The colors are great and as pictured on the site.

Great boots, great price!
I've had the same pair of Sorel's for over 20 years and treated myself to a new pair. They wear great. Only the fur liner got a little stained and matted after repeated washings. I've had my eye on the Joan of Arctic and ordered them as soon as they went on sale. It's Spring here now so I haven't worn them yet.
They appear a little wider in the toe than the original pair I had. Love the furry trim. Run a little big. I read the comments and ordered a 7 though I'm a solid 7 1/2 usually.

Good Boots for Rain/Snow
I bought these boots for my girlfriend, right before a trip to Colorado. She said that they're really comfortable and that they kept her feet really warm. I know that she also uses them in the rain a lot too, so they're somewhat dual purpose. The red soles are pretty cool as well, makes the boots really stand out.

Stylish, WARM, compliment magnets!
I absolutely love these boots. Bought them the week we moved to the Bavarian Alps last October and I'm still wearing them on a regular basis in March. They're great in cold, several feet of snow, or just sloppy rainy days. The fur keeps them quite warm, so I'm glad for the removable option. I've trekked across several (cold and snowy) European cities in these and they are super comfortable. At first, they rubbed a bit on the ankle, but I found that once I paired them with thick boot socks, the rubbing soon went away and they broke in quickly. Plus, I get compliments on these all the time.

Slippery and Cumbersome
I bought these because I wanted a boot that would keep my feet warm and dry. My feet are always frozen in the winter. These boots get an A+ for warm and dry. BUT they are dangerously slippery on ice, but ok in snow. They feel heavy and stiff to walk in. You will feel like a wooly mammoth walking around with these on, as they heavy and not sexy. They are very well constructed and will definitely keep your feet warm and dry on a winter hike!

Love my new boots!
I think these boots are really cute and this is the main reason why I did buy them. They are a bit clunky feeling when you wear them as they are heavy on the feet. They are quite warm though and am excited to wear them in 2011 winter. I feel confident my toes will be warm and the grips will prevent slippage.

Thin sole on these boots!
I was somewhat disappointed with these boots because they have a thin sole, at least compared to my old pair of Sorel Caribou. I understand that this makes them lighter, which might be an advantage for some, but my feet get cold in these whereas I am always warm in the Caribou. The lighter weight is not a good tradeoff, in my view. These "look" like heavy winter boots, but the thin sole makes them not so.

Too stiff
These look so cute in the picture, but they are not comfortable. They were extremely stiff and uncomfortable for me to walk in. Because the bottom is rubber, which was the most uncomfotable part of the boot, they probably will not stretch out. Also, I have kind of big calves and the fur trim just highlighted that and made my calves look huge!

Really great boot for winter and cold rainy days
This boot is great for walking around in snowy areas and on rainy days. I bought them because I needed a warm boot to wear when walking to work in the winter. They are waterproof and warm, but I always wear an 8.5 and actually bought an 8 so it does run a little bit big. Other than that though, it's a fabulous boot! I told both my mom and sister to buy themselves a pair!

Great boot, bought it for myself and daughter
I bought this boot for myself and my daughter saw it and loved it so I ordered a pair for her.
The boots are warm and run pretty much to size.
She is a 7.5 and an 8 fits fine.
They fit well and they are nice looking.
The only thing I am not sure of is whether you can get replacement liners for these boots.
My grandchildren have the basic sorels and they came with an extra liner.

Beautiful looks but watch out for the sizing
After reading the other reviews I was concerned about the fit of this boot and what size to order. It does run big however it does not run wide. I have a relatively normal width of foot and do not normally have problems with width in a shoe but I found this boot narrow across the ball of my foot but it had plenty of length and room elsewhere.
The back above the heel is a bit stiff, I haven't worn them a massive amount yet so I'm hoping this will break in. It will be concerning if it doesn't.
The boots do however look fantastic and very cute for a snow boot. They are big though in appearance. I ordered an 8 and they do look huge, but still cute. Maybe a concern if you have big feet normally.

Worthwhile purchase
After 2 blizzards last year, I wasn't messing around this winter. I was on a mission to buy comfortable, stylish and functional snow boots. These boots were the perfect choice!
They are extremely functional - my feet are always warm and dry and walking through mounds of snow is no problem at all. They run a bit wide so wearing thicker socks hasn't been a problem.
I was concerned about lacing them up because I have wide calves but that has not been an issue at all. The lace ups are easy to manage and adjustable to any size you are. And I always get compliments!!! I definitely would (and have) recommend these to a friend!

Can't wait for snow!
I just recently moved from Florida to an area that will be getting some snow and after looking around I decided to give these boots a try because they seemed like a great deal at a great price. I love them! They look expensive and like they will hold up for years. They are also super warm, warmer than my Uggs. The only down-side is that the sole of the shoe does not give very much when walking, so I kinda feel like I am "stomping" around. Either way, it seems like after I wear them a few times this won't happen anymore and despite this, they are still super comfortable. I usually wear a 7 in Uggs and an 8 fits perfectly in these!

Great Boots... wish they made half sizes.
Great boots...very warm. I wear a 6 1/2 and upon reading reviews ordered a 6. Mistake! Winter boots are meant to be worn with warm thick socks and I think the other reviews were based on thinner socks. So I returned the size 6 and ordered a 7. Much better!! Order a 1/2 size up and wear the boots with winter socks and you will be toasty warm and uber comfortable!

Great Boots, and Cute too
I have enjoyed these boots so far, from wearing them around town in the snow, to going to the forest to get a Christmas tree. My feet are warm and dry. Everyone that sees them says they look nice. I think they are sturdy, comfortable, and will last for a while. I wear size 8 shoes, and these fit perfect in an 8.

Do it.
Fit: Runs a wee bit large. I'm usually a 6 and the 6 was fine but I could've gone a half size down.
Comfort: Pretty comfortable (and warm!) for the most part. After a long day of walking, the back started rubbing on my achilles but it wasn't unbearable. The material is durable so it's a little stiff to begin with. I just need to break it in a little more.
Looks: Very cute and versatile. Looks good with jeans, sweats, play pants, etc.

Great boot, a bit wide
I purchased these boots to get through winters in Minnesota. They're incredibly warm and appear to be very water resistant. Sorel definitely makes high quality boots for the money. On warmer rainy days, I prefer wearing a pair of Hunter tall boots. I purchased both pairs in a size 10, and the Sorels are a bit shorter than the Hunters and much wider in the foot, so I feel a bit more kludgy walking in them.

Girlie Sorels!
I love my older Sorels wear them almost daily in the winter as they have a good sole are waterproof and warm and really indestructible. These are all of that but much cuter with a girlie edge. They do tend to run a little small as I am almost always a nine in most shoes and these are almost to small but to size up to ten I think would make them a little sloppy. Great boot choice if you spend a lot of time outside in cold, snowy, icy and wet weather.

Best Boots I've Ever Owned!
I LOVE these boots! So very warm and cozy- and absolutely adoreable! They do run at least a half size big(I usually wear an 8.5 in most brands & the 8 fit comfortably with room for thick socks). The overall size(a chunkier boot) may take a little getting used to for some people, but I think it's what makes them so cute & stylish. Perfect for New England winters!

No Quarrels with my new Sorels!
I live in the Northeastern US, and I need warm, waterproof boots that keep me comfortable and dry while still looking attractive. I absolutely love my new Sorel "Joan of Arctic" boots--they are practical and cute (not to mention the perfect height), and I will wear them everywhere from Steeler football games to hikes around my favorite local lake with my two labs! My biggest challenge will be wrestling the boots away from my Ugg-wearing, teenage daughter who already commented that the Joan of Artics are "totally adorable with those funky, fur liners!"

Love the Boots!
These boots are awesome! I have been wanting these boots for awhile but so I went to various websites to read as many reviews as possible. They are better than I would have ever imagined. I did heed almost everyones warning about going down half a size. I normally wear an 8.5 and I went down to an 8 and they fit perfectly. I'm so happy with my purchase! Not including how great Altrec is! I got these boots 2 days after I ordered them and they said it may take a week. Great boots but they DO run big
I should have read the reviews first. These boots are totally fabulous but they do run big. I'm typically a size 7.5 or 8 and I ordered an 8. With big socks in and the liner inside they fit with a little bit of room. Without the liner though they are way to big. I will be returning the 8 and buying a 7. Save yourself the trouble of return shipping costs and go a size down.

I Love These Boots!
When I first tried on these boots, I thought they seemed a bit heavy/bulky. But, I think it was just because I don't usually wear boots. Once I walked around with them and got used to them, I fell in love! They are perfect and everything I hoped them to be! They are a little roomy which is perfect for a thicker sock and layered pants for extra cold days. (Now, I am small in stature, so roominess may vary). The boots aren't just practical for cold/rainy/snowy days, but fashionable too! I get complements everywhere I go.
