Description

The original pack boot that defines the warm and hard working snow boot, the Sorel Caribou Snow Boots for Women are winter footwear that virtually last forever for discerning outdoor enthusiast. Whether shuffling the snow bound village streets, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing (also the original snowboard boot) its durable leather upper is lined with a 9 mm. ThermoPlus® wool felt liner that is removable and replaceable for a life-time of toasty toes. Protecting the feet of millions, since 1972 this Sorel snow boot insulates through deep snow, harsh storms, and the biting cold of a long winter. Life everlasting, this classic boot's felt liner is designed in an enhanced moisture-wicking four-layer construction that insulates while reflecting timeless body heat back to your foot. The Caribou's™ seam sealed full grain leather upper with fleece trim tops a 100% waterproof handcrafted rubber shell below the ankle that keeps rain, snow and slush from creeping in. Its streamlined Aerotrac™ outsole might look a little different from the heavy lug sole of the classic Caribou™ boots, but the claw-like grip remains the same, especially on polished ice surfaces. Temperature rated to -40° F, the Sorel Women's Caribou Snow Boots are the choice of hard working, always playing locals everywhere.

Can't do better
May 17, 2011

I bought these boots after a name brand boot worn in a cold and snowy Chicago winter did not keep my feet warm or dry as they should have. My husband wore Sorels for years and suggested I try them. Had I known they made womens sizes I would have bought these years ago! I wear them for shoveling and walking the dog. I am usually outside for at least an hour and the midwest gets VERY cold (below 0). With these I can stay out longer and don't notice the cold. If you're concerned about fashion, don't wear these and stay indoors. For you down to earth gals that want to be outside-buy your Caribous a bit bigger to accomodate warm socks. These are the best! And frankly-I do look kinda cute wearing them!

Just waitin' for the snow!
November 16, 2010

Buying these boots was my first experience ordering from Altrec, and I'm a fan! The Caribou's are exactly as I expected from reading the description and reviews. They run a little big and are a little heavy, but I think they'll be great when it starts snowing, and they'll give me a good leg workout! I've been told that they last forever too. The shipping was exceptional as I received them only a few days after placing the order online.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: a bit heavy

Excellent Purchase
December 27, 2010

This is the third winter for my husband's Sorel boots and the first time he has not worn his boots out in one season. This being the case, I decided to get Sorels for myself and I could not be happier. They are sturdy, warm, and comfortable. I debated about the size since I usually wear a 9.5 or 10. I had read that the boots can run large, so I purchased the 9. I made the right choice. At first, I was worried because I thought they might be too snug, but after a few wearings they have loosened and are just right. I can wear a pair of thick socks in perfect comfort. I am very pleased that I went with the 9 and not a 10, which surely would have been too big. They are not too heavy on my feet. I am very happy.

North Country warm!
January 17, 2011

I'd had my old Caribous for over 16 years when they finally needed replacing. I love that the liners come out so I can hang them by the wood stove to dry, and also that I can replace just the liners when they get worn. These boots have great traction and feel very solid. Yes, they're solid, which doesn't mean light, but I knew what I was getting- a warm and dry pac boot for northern winters, and these are perfect. They are a little taller than my old Sorels, which is great in keeping snow out. I'd read reviews on sizing and went with a 9 when I usually wear a 9.5. The 9 fits just right and allows for wool socks. I know I'll enjoy these for years!

Snow boots that get the job done
February 21, 2011

After tromping around in 10" of snow my feet were still warm and dry. These are definitely clodhoppers -- heavy, bulky, hard to get on and off, but the effort is worth it. I expect to have these for years to come, especially since they aren't an every day winter shoe -- snow only. Regarding sizing, I normally wear a women's 6-6.5. The 6 was huge on me and uncomfortable to walk in. I picked up the 5 and now they're perfect.

October 21, 2010

These are extremely high quality boots. They do run at least a half size too big. I heard they ran big and I normally wear an 8.5, so I ordered an 8. The 8 fit well with room for thick socks. Super warm and completely comfortable.

Boot big, liner small
February 26, 2011

I bought these boots a few weeks ago in an 8, which is what I normally wear. The wool liners are very tight and hard to get on. They are so tight that I can't wear socks with them. The boots however HAVE to be worn with the liners because with just thick socks the boots are WAY too big. So the liner is a must. With the liner the boots are about what I would expect. I think I am going to buy a pair of just the wool liners in a size bigger so I can wear some socks with them. I am hoping this helps the boots fit better. NOTE: I went to a local store that carries these and tried the size 7 on and they are way too small! So this is the size I guess I need. They are super waterproof and very warm. Have no complaints there.

Love the boot!
November 09, 2010

I am cold 24/7 in the winter and these boots are exactly what is needed here in WI. The sole and tread are nice and thick to keep your foot off the cold ground. The lining is great. I normally wear an 8.5 in shoes so I got a 9 in the boot and w/ a thick sock they fit perfect. I will embrace the snow now and not fear the cold.......thank you Sorel!

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Love them!!
January 02, 2010

The warmest boots for the coldest and snowiest of days. Love my color too, only place I could find them in this color. Order a size smaller, they run a little big. They look great on too!

these boots not only hold up in freezing NYC temps, but they are so stylish now! love them <3

These are excellent snow and rain boots.
January 24, 2009

They run 1 size small. If you are a 6 order a 5. They feel very heavy upon first wear, but after 2-3 wears you get used to the weight. They are stylish, yet functional. A win-win.

Stands as one of the warmest (Best)
April 20, 2011

Oh so warm boots!, my wife told me. She works as a school noon duty attendant in Alaska and spend 2-3 hours on frozen ground every day. These boots do the job perfect for her. I first gave her a pair of bunny boots which did the job for her but did not meet the fashion image (and I was told so). So I got her a pair of these and she loves them. She wears a size 6-1/2 and I purchased a size 6, they fit perfect with her wool socks, she has also used them with her snow shoes adding a liner sock. She also mentioned one day adding a packet of toe warmers (10 degrees), and they got really warm. Thanks Altrec for carrying a quality Pac boot, plus the sale price was sweet! I also have a pair of the men's version, these Pac boots have been around for a long time. The bobbed soles are great for control on slippery surfaces.

No frostbite for me.
November 29, 2010

I have had these boots for years and they are fantastic. They are my heavy duty winter boots. These boots are for days when there are multiple inches of snow falling or when the high temperature is below zero. My feet are always cold, so winter can be a challenge. When I combine these boots with a good pair of socks, my feet stay warm. If I'm going to be outside for an extended period of time, say for a football game or a pond hockey tournament, I throw in a couple of foot warmers and I don't have to worry about frostbite! I will say that these boots are a little clunky, but once they've been worn for a while they reach that perfectly broken in stage. They also run big, so order down.

Love my new boots.
February 22, 2011

Received my new boots today just as expected. They are great. They are difficult to get into when you first try to put them on, but soon loosen up. I wish they came in half sizes. I normally wear a size 7 shoe, but from previous reviews, I ordered a size smaller. The 6 fits, but a 6 1/2 would allow me to wear a really heavy sock on super cold days. They feel heavy coming out of the box, but once on they don't.I am totally sure I will not need to buy another pair of winter boots again.

Pros: Lasts forever

They just didn't fit
February 26, 2011

I like the boots overall, but they just didn't fit. I have wide feet with high insteps. I could not get my foot into the liner! The liner material is a heavy felt that has no stretch what so ever and they do not open or adjust. I ordered my regular size. I felt that the Next full size would have been too big and clunky.

Cons: poor fit

January 06, 2010

I had a pair or Sorels before - they were men's though-I was thrilled to find a women's 11! The fit is good. The do run a bit big-if you plan to wear a heavy sock I would order your true size if possible. I have been on several hikes with the dogs and my feet have been toasty warm! Great traction on frozen snow/ice.

Really Warm!
September 10, 2010

These are excellent boots made of VERY high quality materials. They're extremely warm. I feel like these are the go to boots for mid winter freezing, snowy, rainy, or whatever mother nature wants to throw at you. I'm in New England and it can get REALLY cold and wet, so I'm happy to have found these- the warmest I've ever tried! The only thing that might need getting used to is the size. I read other reviews and ordered down(I'm a size 8.5 and ordered an 8). The eight fits perfectly inside, but they are just a tad bigger/bulkier(I think they run wide) than what I'm used to- however, it's not at all a bother- especially when these will be keeping me warm and dry in below freezing temps and wet weather!

Great!!!
December 10, 2009

live in a wet climate, not a ton of snow, but these boots are great. Super warm and waterproof. Great for just going to the dog park. I think they do run a bit big....I wear a 9 and there is room for my foot to move a bit, however, not an issue when I wear thicker socks.

Great, sturdy boots
April 28, 2011

These boots are definitely a bit clunky, but if you're looking for something warm and sturdy that is going to keep your feet warm and dry this is it! I just purchased these for what will be our first winter in Wisconsin and I'm very pleased so far (though, granted, I've only been wearing them around the house). They are comfortable and seem to be breaking in well. I usually wear a 7.5 and ordered the 7's. They are snug (can't wear anything more than a thin sock) but I think they will stretch out and I doubt I'll need thick socks with how warm the boots are. I only gave 4 stars because I haven't really put them to the test yet, but I'm sure they will be great this winter!

Does not run large.....
December 16, 2010

After reading numerous reviews that the Caribou ran large and to order down, I did just that. I normally wear a women's 8.5-9 and ordered a size 8. I recieved them today, tried them on and my toes were cramped even with lightweight socks. So, now I have to return them to Altrec and wait for my replacement boots that are on backorder. (No fault of Altrec) The boots are well made and high quality- great value for the money. The customer service at Altrec is awesome, I have ordered several items from Altrec and I have never been disappointed.

quite thick, heavy, and make your feet look larger than the actual size. but really good for rain, snow and cold weather. I ordered 8 and it looks like i am in my dad's boots. but it is real useful for bad, cold outdoor condition. I will recommend this if you love outdoor life, especially for winter camping or so.

Ahhh...Warm feet
November 25, 2010

My daughter does outdoor events year round and she needed boots to keep her feet warm. As a concerned dad (and an engineer) I researched for hours on reviews and recommendations and Sorels kept coming up. I remember Sorels from years ago as the outdoor field and hunting boots to have. She hasn't had a cold weather event to try them yet but just wearing them around she can tell they will do the trick. She is 5'4" and is a size 4-6. Her shoe size is around a 7 but she has a wide foot. She says the boots fit just right and is looking forward to trying them in the cold in a few weeks. She really liked the color which wasn't too girly but then had a female touch about it. The age bracket I used for this review is for her so as to keep this review's perspective.

Toasty feet and good traction
January 07, 2009

This is a great snow boot! I always seem to have cold feet, but with these boots my digits stay nice and warm. The sole provides good traction, even on solid ice and I can walk through wet slushy snow without my feet getting wet. The size seems fine. I normally wear a 7 and these 7's fit very well. Maybe a little bit big, but feel perfect with a thick pair of socks. Have bought a couple different pairs of snow boots in the past few years that really didn't do their job. Am so happy with these!

Different colors fit differently
January 17, 2011

I am usually a solid size 8 but these in grey were big on me. I tried on the tan color at a local store and they fit perfectly, so my review is about them. A bit clompy (hard to drive in) but great tread, comfy and warm. Snow boots you can abuse. Perfect.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: heavy

Durable
January 02, 2009

These boots live up to all of the wonderful reviews I've heard here and by word of mouth. They are warm, keep your feet dry, and are virtually indestructable. They do run a 1/2 size large, but with thick socks and leaving in the insulator boot, they will fit fine.

Perfect for northern winters
March 14, 2008

These boots keep my cold feet warm during the most frigid of winter conditions in Iowa. This winter was one of the worst in recent years, and these boots kept my feet warm and dry throughout.

I am a fan
January 21, 2012

I ordered my shoes in 42 EU. Before buying the shoes I tried the PAC model in a store where I found out that a size 42 EU will be best for me rather than a 41 1/3 EU. They told me it will widen around my toes but around the hurting place. I am happy that I did not buy a smaller size since I can put a pair of sole in the boots to make it fit better. The price was really good much cheaper than here in Denmark. They are warm and I am ready for the winter in Denmark. Furthermore they are a little bit heavy, but they are perfect for the winter weather!

Pros: cheap price. warm., Cons: a litlle bit heavy

Little Clunky
January 17, 2012

I bought these for my wife for the holiday. I was supprised as to how "clunky" of a boot they were on her. She said that they felt really heavy and was a bit of a drag to wear. We return these and got the Ugg boots in black. I am sure that they would stand up to the elements, as they did seam to be really well constructed, but just a little too much for a lot of walking here in manhattan. They definitely were stylish, but these seem to be good for people who are in snow 24/7 vs manhattan were it may snow 4-10 times per year. Hope that helps.

these boots are true to size

January 14, 2010

worth getting
April 19, 2011

I work mostly outdoors and I borrowed my friend's pair of Sorrels. I loved them and wanted to purchase a pair of my own. They are fantastic and keep my feet warm which is the most important in what I do professionally. You can also put skinny jeans on and still look good. They didnt run big on me. I normally wear a 7 1/2 and ordered a 7. I had to exchange them for an 8.

Fantastic boot!
November 22, 2010

I recently purchased these boots as I need a pair that will survive extremly cold and snowy conditions. I've only worn them in wet, rainy and zero Celsius conditions but so far they have been fantastic. I get cold feet very easily and they usually start to freeze around zero Celsius but these boots have kept my feet warm and cosy. I love how light they are for being a serious snow boot and that I can wear them in the city and they still look good. I am looking forward to the cold knowing I won't freeze in these! The size run slightly large. I am usually a size US 8- 8.5 but I ordered a size smaller , US 7, and they fit perfectly. I have quite wide feet and the fit great even with a thicker sock on. I've had the boots for less than a month and I haven't had any issues on quality or durability thus far. However that isn't enough time to give them a grounded rating on those two areas. Overall I would reccomend these boots based on my experience so far!!

Pros: Build quality, Great value

Good Boots
December 26, 2011

I look forward to having warm feet while working outside. I need warm, durable boots when working outside with the cattle in the winter. I normally wear a size 7.5, so I ordered an 8. The 8 is small. I'm currently waiting on my size 9 to arrive. Very eager to try these boots.

Great Pair of Boots
January 04, 2012

Had sorels before and used my sisters after a few years away from snow and was reminded how good the boots were. Ordered these boots in preparation for the winter in ND but thankfully, haven't had a chance to put them to use. Seem to be great quality and true to size. Ordered a 9 and seem to fit fine.

BEST BOOTS!
February 21, 2013

I have been wearing Sorel boots since I was a young girl. Living out West - these are a MUST for the winter season. These boots are extremely durable and will last for years. I just bought a new pair to replace the ones I've had for nearly 10 years! These are the best boots, period.

Warm
February 25, 2008

These are great and warm for my wife. Thanks to previous reviews I knew that the boots come about 1/2 to 1 size to big, so we got a smaller pair and they are great.

Nice nice boot!
March 11, 2011

I bought these boots for my wife before our Yosemite trip. It was 17F there with a lot snow. These boots worked great on snow. They gave excellent traction on both snow and ice made you felt like walking on the dry surface. They are also very warm, with a nice figure that you can separate the inner layer out for quick drying or just use inside house! My wife loves it! The water-proof ability is also great! The upper leather material is very water repellent after 3 days of using these boots still looks like unused! One important thing to remember: order one full size down!

Good Heavy Duty Snow Boot
January 13, 2012

I purchased these to wear in the snow 1-2 times a year. I think they are very well made. These are definitely heavy duty snow boots. If you are looking for something to just play in the snow, these may be a little heavy duty. I usually wear a size 8 1/2 or 9. I ordered an 8 and it is a little too small. My toes touch the front. the rest of the boot fits great. They are as advertised and well made.

THESE BOOTS ROCK
February 20, 2008

These are the best winter boots I have ever owned. As a Mainer, I should have bought them a long time ago for these harsh New England winters. Warm, Dry, Comfortable. Maybe run a little small but I had heard this and ordered down. As a typical 7 1/2, a 7 was perfect. Shipping was instantaneous and price was best on the web. Thank you Altrec and Sorel!!

Absolutely love them
January 08, 2010

Like other readers, I was glad to see a size 11 in these boots. They run a bit bigger with normal socks, but fit much better with thicker winter socks. Keep your feet nice and toasty!!

Warm feet finally!
March 01, 2010

I have never had a winter boot keep my feet really warm. I usually put toe warmers in my boots. The boots are roomy ordered my normal size 7 for boots and they are very roomy. Comfortable with two or one pair of socks. Worth the money!

Not comfortable for me
December 20, 2011

I usually wear a size 6.5-7 (with wide feet) so decided to purchase a 7. They fit me well with thick socks. However, after a day of walking in them, they hurt my ankle bones and I realized they were too heavy for me. If they fit you and you want heavy snow boots, then they will probably do a great job. They're just not for me, and I will be returning them. I purchased them to walk during the Chicago winter and snow.

Needed to Replace Old Sorels - Glad I Did!
February 14, 2011

I purchased this pair of Caribous to replace a pair of Sorel boots I had for the past seven years. My old Sorels were the sturdiest portion of my winter gear for years, but they were finally beginning to fall apart. I was eager to find a new pair of the same reliable quality. I think the Caribous are even better than my old model! They are tall enough to ward off splash stains from slush, thickly insulated to keep feet warm and dry in the nastiest of winters and they have great traction for the days the slush turns to ice. I'd recommend these to friends and strangers alike.

Winter Boots
November 12, 2012

I purchased these boots and they fit great. They are super warm and water proof. They were however very heavy and bit clunky for what I was looking for. If you want to wear them out in the snow while shoveling, walking through a winter storm I think they are great. I was looking more for both the above but also something I would wear more regularly with jeans so I returned them. They were beautiful quality however and I would recommend them.

Pros: warm, beautiful quality, Cons: heavy for everyday use

Great Boots
January 27, 2012

These boots were a gift, put them on the they are very comfortable, they keep my feet warm in the cold Michigan winters with no problems at all. They look great and I wear them around town and out in the back country both the black color is great. I wear a size 71/2 shoe and they size 8 boots fits me perfect. I would recommend these boots to everyone!

Pros: warm, looks great

Quality Product
April 09, 2008

These boots are such a quality product. They are so soft and comfortable inside that I wore them around my house for two hours the night the arrived. Definitely worth the investment. I followed other recommendations and rounded down on the size. I normally wear a 7.5 and purchased a size 7 and they seem to fit well.

Great Boots!
December 17, 2011

I bought these boots for my wife's xmas present. I know she's gonna love them. They are the real deal, perfect for playing in the snow with the kids. Be sure to try them on first somewhere. They seem to run a size smaller.

runs small
November 27, 2012

I normally wear a 6 1/2 - 7. I ordered a 7 and they fit really snug. My toe is at the end of the lining inside with a regular sock! The outside of the boot is huge but there is so much to the inside liner that it really fills the outside.

Pros: looks great, Cons: size, heavy

Haven't tried them yet but....
June 02, 2011

they seem comfortable. I live in the desert and it's been 100 degrees so I haven't been able to try them out. I ordered the Sorel Cumberland model first and my feet were freezing. I hope these are better. I ordered these in a 5.5 (I usually wear a 6) initially after reading the reviews but they were too small. I reordered in a size 6 and they have some room but not a lot. I could wear a thin sock but nothing more.

Great Boots
November 05, 2009

I bought them half a size smaller and was afraid they wouldn't fit but they do perfectly with or without socks. Nice and fluffy feeling and NO sweaty wetty feet any more. the weight of the boots is reasonable great comfort even for a very small woman like me. i will enjoy this coming winter. Thanx

great, comfy boots
February 09, 2010

I bought these to wear in the snow, and they truly are fabulous. They keep my feet warm, and keep the snow out. I love them. I usually wear a 9, and so I bought a 9 for these boots, but they're a tad bit big - no big deal, I just wear thicker socks. :-)

Keep my feet warm in MA winter
July 13, 2013

I recently moved up to Boston, MA from NC and had to load up on winter gear. These boots really fit the bill for the cold and snowy MA winters! I wore them numerous times during my first winter up here and I have zero complaints. They kept my feet nice and toasty. I normally wear a 7.5 in shoes, but these boots run large, so I went for the size 7 and they are perfect. Keep in mind they are snow boots, so the fit is bulky, but I am fine with it. As long as my feet are warm I have no problem with the bulk. I'd say these boots are a must have if you spend any time in a cold weather climate.

Nice look not crazy about the sizing.
July 22, 2009

It's the middle of summer right now. So I can't review the wear and tear on these. I think they look good. I do find them a bit on the heavy side. I can't imagine them being to comfortable. But maybe after breaking them in. The biggest complaint I have is the sizing. I usually an 8 but after reading that they run a size big I bought a 7. What I really think would be best is a 7 1/2 and they don't come in half sizes. So I'm really hoping that fact my toe is touching the front of the boot isn't going to prove a major issue. I think an 8 would be way too big.
