My wife bought this for me for my birthday, and I told her I didnt need a new coat, mine that i had for 5 years was just fine. Well putting this on you can def see the difference in a great quality jacket. It is narrow in the shoulders, but fits fine on me, and is really warm. Has all the special things a ski jacket can have (gussets, arm zips etc) and it looks good on the slopes.

I have owned every high end jacket you an imagine...This spyder leader beats them all. I skied today, first time of the season blizzard -10 F.. I was toasty dry, The best part is this jacket has the warmth of a big down coat with the flexibiiity of a shell
Outstanding jacket for diverse conditions

It took a long time to give up my Obermeyer but this jacket has the goods. I am 6' 200lbs and tend to overheat on the steeps and freeze on the lift. It was time to take advantage of the improvements in materials. The fit is perfect, not bulky, but leaves enough room for base layers. My comfort level stayed the same in 20 degress outside and I wasn't ripping off the jacket after going inside like usual. The 20k breathability and stretch flexibility is incredible for a jacket with this amount of warmth. I am very pleased with this purchase.

This is a great jacket!!! I have skied in numerous "mountain" jackets in the past and this one is by far superior. I usually ski in a base layer, t-shirt and a sweat shirt depending on the temperature. I know leave the sweat shirt at home and open the vents. All the pockets are well placed and plentiful. Great jacket, well worth the purchase!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Great Jacket, warm, very well made.

With the purchase of this jacket I now own 3 Spyder Jackets I am never let down by the quality, design, functionality and look of these jackets. They are very warm and built to take the rigors of winter weather. I highly recommend Spyder Jackets.
Great fit, perfect pockets, warm
January 18, 2009
This is my third Spyder jacket and it meets all expectations. The size is true, the fit is excellent and the workmanship is excellent. The arrangement of pockets (especially the back pocket that stowes the hood and neck warmer when not needed) is ideal. I can carry my camera on the right chest, cell phone on the left chest (both with quick access), sunglasses inside right and still have two pockets for sunblock and other junk I need. This still leaves a few pockets for season pass, trail maps, etc. The jacket is very warm for its weight and does not hamper movement even in bumps or trees. I highly recommend the jacket.

All I can say is its a great jacket. Absolutely amazing. So far I've worn it in both the warm and the cold and the wet and dry. It just doesn't give up. I ski every winter and this year I decided to learn to snow board. The jacket has stood up to that too. It is very durable and did not rip or snag at all. Also the week I went this year started at about 20 degrees and very windy. I didn't even know the wind was blowing and I was comfortably cool, a plus because being warm or hot makes you sweat and later freeze. Later in the week it warmed up to 40 and rained on the last day of the trip. I didn't get wet at all. and the pit vents stayed open the whole time while I had just a tee shirt on. I was very comfortable right up until nightfall when it cooled off and just zip the pit vents and I was fine. The only problem I had with the coat is that I am a tall person so good jackets that fit well are hard to find. I am 6'3 and have long arms. Even though I am only 160lbs I ordered an XL for the sleeve length. I probably could have gotten away with a large. It is baggy but in the rare event that I need the extra layers (-20 with the way this coat is) it will be a good fit. Everything is good about the coat. Its has durable wrist gators. The snow skirt is a little large for me but if I adjust it right it works well. The jacket is not at all stiff. It withstood the first 3 days of learning to snowboard and continues to perform with the morning commute to work which is getting quite cold. It may be a bit expensive but you are definitely getting what you pay for.
Top Quality all around

This is the warmest jacket I have ever owned! I skied wearing this jacket several times this week. The base temp. was in the single digits and wind chill below zero. I only wore one layer underneath. After the first run, I had to open the vents! I was comfortable all day long. The large inner mesh pcket was a plus when going into the lodge for lunch as it easily stored my hat. I purchased a Large size. I am 5 ft 11 in and 200 lbs. The fit was bigger than I had anticipated and could have easily fit several layers underneath if necessary. The length is longer than some traditional jackets which could be beneficial in deep powder conditions. I reccomend this jacket to all who want to actually get what they pay for.Pros: Great design, Build quality

I'm almost 6'1" with a 43 inch chest. Large size is a bit snug - another inch in the chest would help, but I suspect XL would be too big. Wore this jacket on a cold 15 degree day with winds at about 15 mph. Had four layers underneath and was still a bit cold. Wore the following day @ 30 degrees and partially sunny, with three layers underneath. Warmth was just ok. Workmanship and design are very good. Zipper in front snags a bit in places. Collar is a bit short in the back, exposing my neck when not using hood. Hood just about fits over my helmet, and could be two inches longer in front with helmet on; w/o helmet, hood is fine. Sleeves are very well designed with bend at the elbows. Key holder and loops in pockets are a nice add on. On sale, this was a good value, not great.Pros: Build quality, good design, Cons: warmth overrated

Lives up to all the hype - warm, comfortable, perfect number of pockets. Fits perfectly and kept me warm and dry for three straight days of skiing. Would buy it again and recommend it to all.Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever

Great Jacket, tried many finally found one!
January 23, 2010
This is the jacket to get to keep out the weather when it's cold!! I have tried MANY jackets, returning them to Altrec (great way to do business Altrec, love you guys!) and have finally found the jacket for me. We go to Utah during Christmas and it's always in the single digits and with the wind chill below 0'. Great snow though!! Pow for days! This year it was great just because of this jacket, I was warm. I'm 5'8" 190 stocky and the large fit's me great. Perfect fit, good construction, the pockets are great. As described in other reviews, the varied pockets work well for all your needs. Camera, cell phone, pass, trail maps, sunglasses/goggles, sunblock, wallet, keys, it works! Front zipper works well when it cold and easy to zip. Neck feels good and I am able to zip all the way. Makes me wonder what's in the Kitzbuhel that makes it that much more. Hood works well over everything with goggles on top. I did not wear a helmet, maybe next time. The only thing, prior to going out; look at the draw string on the hood to figure out how to tighten it up. It's a different design and when you can't see it and when your out in the cold, it can be difficult. However, this is the jacket for me and maybe you! Definitely 5 stars.
