I had been looking for a combo balaclava to wear under my helmet while skiing, that would also cover those typical bare spots. The Spyder Shelter Balaclava fits very comfortably under the helmet, while the neck gaiter is long enough to tuck down into the top of my jacket. Two issues to consider are the thickness of the fleece and how far up it goes on the sides. It's not the thickest fleece, but it does the job in stopping all but the most biting wind. If skiing/riding in temps nearing zero, you may want to consider adding an additional gaiter. It also sits pretty far up at the ears, which is awesome in giving your earlobes some additional protection, however some helmets that sit snugly over the ears may cause you to feel the extra pressure there. Overall, quality is quite good and I'd definitely recommend adding this one to your winter gear. Of course, you can't forget how cool that Spyder looks sitting right on your neck!

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: light density fleece
