Spyder Chute Pant:
While Spyder is generally associated with high-end outerwear designed for destination resorts, this distinct and highly weatherproof Chute Pant is part of their new Big Mountain collection, a series of performance jackets and pants created specifically for the remote places seldom seen by weekend warriors and in-bounds skiers. Spyder designed this durable pant as a perfect pairing for their new Spine Jacket, and that's why the custom gel prints match both garments. Like the Spine Jacket, the Chute pant features an easy-moving stretch nylon oxford that's just as waterproof as top-of-the-line ski pants, but you get the added benefit of mobility. Behind the nylon shell is a waterproof and breathable Dermizax EV membrane that offers some of the best resistance to water pressure found on the market today. Spyder reinforced all the key abrasion areas with durable plain weave nylons and treated everything with a special XT coating that penetrates the fabric and forms a honeycomb pore structure that lets vapor escape while keeping exterior water droplets outside the pant. A Spylon+ water repellent finish helps keep the droplets from consolidating and saturating the fabric pores. While other ski pants offer full length side zippers, the Chute Pant is a precision design with thigh ventilation zippers for cooling and separate lower leg zippers for boot access. It's the kind of zipper configuration that will appeal to performance backcountry skiers and garment control freaks--especially when comfort is essential and you can't afford to waste minutes fine-tuning your setup. Another nice touch is the shaped hem scuff guards, which give you a little less fabric to hassle with down around your boots.
