An Old American Classic. Is It Your Best Choice?
May 14, 2010
My experience with this bottle goes back decades. It was under extreme circumstances, commercial fishing in Alaska. Fishermen would keep these handy. A hot beverage would warm you up and keep you going during long openings. I have seen these bottles tossed bow to stern in a bad swell. The older models had no handle and would roll starboard to port and back again before they could be caught and stowed somewhere safe. I have seen these covered by slime and heavy gear dropped on them. This abuse went on for seasons and years and decades. Although many were scratched and badly dented, their only mode of failure was being accidentally dropped overboard. The old ones were carbon steel on the outside and rusted badly, but still worked like new after ten or twenty years. Why not five stars for such a durable product? (1) A protest - there are too many 5 star reviews on this site, and (2) you will pay more, but some of the premium thermoses, like the Nissans, keep things warm about 20-30% longer.

Glad to have this vacuum bottle. You want to make sure you order and receive this item number because it does make a difference. The other bottle does not perform as well as this one. The package arrived in perfect condition. But, the shipping is a confusing. Fed Ex had a problem with there tracking numbers. The parcel did arrive before the date expected. And the guy's at Altrec were right on top of the problem and made it all work. Will definitely order from these guy's again.
