Great Navigation Tool
Most people don't pull out the GPS or the big compass until they are lost. I have always fallen into that category, and spent many hours backtracking. I attached my Suunto to my velcro wristwatch band and wore it on 3 long backpacking trips so far. I could look at it while walking to check bearing, and that was something I never did with bigger compasses, which usually stay stowed until a break. Dead reckoning with this little compass between map checks and GPS waypoints made things much easier, and virtually eliminated wrong turns and backtracking, especially above treeline on granite, where trails can be harder to follow. I love this little compass. The first one I bought got reversed somehow, probably by incidental exposure to a strong magnet somewhere. (I wear the thing everywhere, and even use it when driving.) This was the only time I had a problem. Second one has been fine.

works fine, great value
Basic compass; Suunto name means it's built better than most others in this price range. Great value Not too comfortable to clip on a divers watch (or any watch w/ a rubber strap) -- 1 side is smooth, the other is pointy. Included velcro stap works well when worn outside a think jacket although it tends to spin around. The compass itself works fine, but how it gets attached (or worn) can definitely be redesigned.
