Mountain Hardwear Trango Assault:
Whether you're a winter fastpacker or the head of a small expedition, the Trango Assault is your backcountry home away from home. It's the lightest expedition tent made by Mountain Hard Wear, but the lightweight package and small dimensions don't imply that you should expect compromises in design. Like all expedition tents from Mountain Hard Wear, the Trango Assault has a taped full overage nylon taffeta fly to keep you dry and minimize internal condensation. The outer fly has a non-yellowing window made from UV-resistant and tear proof UVX film, a proprietary clear material that's been tested at 27,000 feet and resists clouding like PVC or plastic film. It even stays flexible all the way down to -66 F. The rubber shock cords inside the four .340 in. diameter Easton 7075 E9 aluminum poles are designed to remain resilient in temperatures ranging from -60F to 120F. Internal comforts include mesh perimeter pockets for your small gear all along the interior walls, along with a factory-taped and waterproof floor seam. There's also room for two optional gear lofts (sold separately). The Trango Assault is solid proof that good things do come in small packages, something you'll appreciate when you realize most flat spots in the highest of the high country consist of summits and narrow ledges. This tent is a perfect fit.
