Light
September 12, 2010
No question - these stakes are light. And if that's all you're asking for then you'll be happy with your purchase. However, unless you're camped on soft soil don't expect these stakes to pierce the ground with ease. I just returned from a backpacking trip in the North Cascades where I pitched my tent at three locations. Each time I had a rough time getting these stakes into the ground which I would describe as packed dirt at established backcountry sites. I felt like a bad nurse trying to find a vein, poking numerous times here and there before getting adequate depth. Standard stakes (I had a couple)penetrated their full length on the first attempt with little effort.
Ultralight!

These stakes are super super light. And the orange paint on them really helps so that you don't lose them! I would recommend these to any ultralight backpacker or someone looking to get into ultralight. Definitely worth the price.
