The North Face added a dark contrast color along the bottom of the brim to help reduce dazzling glare, especially if you're paddling or sailing on a summer afternoon. Mesh paneling along the brim helps improve cool airflow while an internal brushed sweatband keeps the perspiration out of your eyes. Most comfortable hat EVER!
I LOVE this hat more than any other hat I have ever owned, and I ended up getting one on clearance (not the color I wanted) for a trip to Peru. I am back to purchase one in a color I like more at full price. Hopefully the two I have will last forever. It's a light weight hat, it's cool, and you can snug it down with chin strap and adjustment around the part that sits on your head. You can crunch it up in your backpack and it still functions nicely. This is an awesome hat for working in the yard, shades your face and ears and it's so comfy you don't feel like you are even wearing a hat. This will go with me on every vacation I go on, and I love having it to wear in the yard as well.
