This is an amazing jacket. My daughter is 3 years old. Many mothers may feel that paying this much for a children's coat is too much since they will grow out of it in a year. Well, when our family came to visit my husband's sister felt that way as well, and you know what, when the temperature got around freezing so did her kids! My daughter was still warm and toasty. The hood has a elastic band that holds the hood in place when it is really windy and the belt helps keep her heat in and keeps her core nice and warm. She has worn this jacket in the freezing rain and was bone dry. She wore this jacket in windy cold NY city and she never felt it. To all you parents out their second guessing yourself, don't... this is an awesome jacket that sets itself apart from the rest of the snow jackets out there for this price. Not too mention Altrec carries it cheaper than most places I've seen. When your little one is playing with all the other children in the freezing cold and she is the only one not begging to go back inside to warm up... you'll smile to yourself and know it was worth every penny
