Description

If puff and excess stuff isn't your thing in down jacket outerwear, you'll like the refined and practical styling in this Men's Aconcagua Vest from The North Face. Unlike some cheap overstuffed vests plagued by chilly down shift, this newly redesigned Aconcagua Vest for men relies on a streamlined, no-shift alternating baffle construction that requires a little more time to create and uses a lot more nylon thread during manufacturing. The result is that the quality 550-fill down insulation remains in place and doesn't sag, bag or create chilly cold spots like discount down clothing. These compact baffles also make the men's Aconcagua Vest easier to layer beneath other Zip-in compatible jackets and shells made by The North Face. Other practical features include glove-friendly zipper pulls on the full-length front zipper and handwarmer pockets. The Aconcagua is a great pick for spring and fall hiking and camping trips, although it's also an ideal insulating layer beneath ski or snowshoe shell outerwear.

Very warm vest to wear during fall nights north face never disappoints. Quality and fit is on point as well feels real comfortable and warm with a hoodie or sweater.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

great gift!
October 19, 2009

I purchased this as a gift for my husband who was interested in a black NF vest. It's a hit! My favorite is that it's not as 'puffed out' as NF vests in years past and has a nice trim look to it. It serves as a great wardrobe basic.

Great product

I am enjoying this vest. High quality as usual in The North Face products. Ideal for spring and for outdoor activities.

Sweet vest
August 18, 2008

I’m very satisfied with this purchase. Down vests are ideal for spring/fall outdoor activities. This vest is surprisingly warm and doesn’t have the bulk you would expect (i.e. doesn’t make you look like the Pillsbury dough boy). I am 6’1” 200 pounds and the L fits snug but comfortable.

Extremely pleased

Bought as a gift, he loves it!

I bought my fiance this vest and he refuses to take it off. It is extremely comfortable and light weight but still very warm. Only down side is the feathers that occasionally come out.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Perfect Present
January 05, 2010

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband and he loved it because it wasn't too puffy! However, he got the black one (which was out of stock) from the Northface store, so I had to return it:(

Very good down fill vest
April 06, 2010

Perfect for the cool spring or fall weather. Has just the right amount of fill to it that it doesn't make it seem too puffy. Very lightweight as well. Pockets and neck collar area have a nice soft fabric as well which is nice little extra feature.

Great Vest
December 14, 2009

I love the Aconcagua Vest. I am using it for all types of activities; skiing, snowshoeing, hiking or just walking around.

Not the Vest in the Picture
October 17, 2007

I ordered the vest in empire blue and was slightly disappointed that the one that came was not the one in the picture. The Grey is darker(almost black) than it appears and the zipper is blue, not Grey. Other than that, nice fit, nice quality, great for approaches, zips into my shell. Great for camp while cooling down from a climb.

AWESOME
December 21, 2009

This was exactly what I've been looking for. Not too thick like the 700 series. Looks great and keeps you warm!

great vest with the north face name perfect for those cool days
October 12, 2007

i just bought this vest in black and i love it. it is perfect for cold weather, but doesn't make your body too hot like a big jacket. perfect for layering, my favorite to wear it over a sweatshirt. a great value to. 4 stars. no to mention the north face name brand so you know its going to last!

Very happy
March 10, 2010

I love this vest. Great insulation without the bulk- not as puffy as the Nuptse. Very compressible and the size is true to other North Face products. I like the fact that the armholes do not have elastic around the opening like some insulated vests.

Versatile vest!
January 14, 2013

I purchased this vest in XL for my FIL for Christmas. He's about 260# and 6'1". It fits perfectly and is warm even though it's lightweight. Perfect for Texas winters. Probably would only be an underlayer for someone who lives further north.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

Good product

Color just a little off
August 23, 2008

I ordered the vest in black and when i received it i was just a little disappointed. The black was not as black as I thought it would be more of a dark charcoal . The vest is stylish and comfortable. It fit great and the material was comfortable. Great for the Fall.

Lightweight and warm
April 27, 2009

The vest is really light and warm. The inner pocket is really deep. Great for cold fall and spring mornings and evenings when a jacket will be too warm for the entire day.

Great vest

great vest
October 23, 2012

This vest is extra warm, stylish and fit make this a perfect winter day wear around. I ordered the green one and have used it on numerous outings. The only con is that it is a little poofy and doesn't layer as well, however, that is also the reason it is so warm, and layers over are not need (as long as you have layers under on)

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Awesome product!
March 03, 2008

This vest is excellent, perfect balance of weight, comfort, and warmth. I absolutely love wearing this vest and I do every chance I get. I would recommend this vest to anyone who hikes, camps or does anything outdoors that wants a nice warm layer that keeps the cold out. Great buy!

Great vest/puffy
February 17, 2010

This is a nice warm vest, but it is not as compressible as some other ones out there.

Terrific Gift
December 22, 2009

Great Fall Vest
October 26, 2011

The vest is perfect with its 550 down for fall temps in the 40's-60's. It seems to pack well and is extremely lightweight. Fit-wise, it appears to be a "normal" fit...not overly slim nor baggy. The only downside I can see is the occasional feather escaping.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, not super puffy

Great Vest
July 05, 2009

Great Vest! Not to heavy for those not to cold days..

Good for the price
March 18, 2008

I ordered the empire blue and was satisfied with it. Compared to other insulated vest, this one does not make you look stuffed. This vest is good for chilly weather, but wouldn't be sufficient to keep you warm in freezing temperatures. Good fall/spring wear.

Vest was outstanding!
May 01, 2010

Very warm. Provides great insulation. Very nice fit.

Just in time for California winter
October 23, 2012

California weather is starting to get colder now, but it's never quite cold enough for me to need a thick jacket for outdoor activities. I find this vest to be a perfect balance between keeping your core warmth and maintaining mobility/breathability in your arms. Color: The Asphalt Grey version is actually just slightly darker than it appears in the photo. If you've ever seen any other North Face jackets in Asphalt Grey, you'll notice that this vest's color is a much darker shade of gray than the usual shade -- so it looks even better! Regarding thickness and warmth: It's not as puffy as it looks and therefore packs up quite nicely in your backpack. I wear this for mid-60°F weather. For anything colder, I would instead recommend the 700-down model called the NUPTSE 2 that is MUCH thicker. Also, I found that these vests seem to run slightly large and is a regular fit (as opposed to slim fit at the waist). For a 5'10", 170 lbs guy, SMALL size is perfect for a form-fitting vest.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use
