Great bang for the buck
November 28, 2003

This jacket is light and mobile. It moves great with your body. Perfect for keeping you dry in everyday wear. A great fit and feel all over.

Good buy for the price

Extremely light and compact, with very decent water protection (though definitely not gore-tex style protection), wind protection is just okay. Drawstrings work great to keep the hoodie in place without getting the strings everywhere or tangled. And Northface was kind enough to sew a loop onto the left hand pocket; so I just stow the jacket and carry it around at all times clipped to my backpack via a caribiner clip. Its definitely for people who like to travel light and avoid bulk. My suggestion is to go to your local footlocker and pick up a can of waterproofer spray and hit up the jacket with two light coats. For an extra $5 you now have Gore-tex level water protection. My one small complaint is that sticky, crunchy feel and sound of nylon. But its nowhere near as bad as of ski/snowboard jackets. You can't beat this price and your friends will get a kick out of seeing you unfold a full size jacket from a five by five pocket.

good practical value

Ultralite windbreaker/water resistant jacket that still has a full zip front, adjustable hood, 2 hand pockets and is self stowing. It has become a standard item in my pack. It helped me achieve a summer backpack weight of under 10 pounds (minus food, water and fuel).

not bad

Teh jackets are really really lightweight, which is good if you like them like that. I expected the material to be a little thicker and a little more sturdy... not a bad jacket for the price.
