Fit Tip: This jacket has a fitted feel to it. I am 6 foot 2 with a medium build and I was pleased with how the medium fit. The arms were a good length.

This is the best jacket I have ever purchased.
Already used it in rain and had no problems, and kept warm in 33 degree weather.
Sizing was a bit tricky for me. I am 5'7" and weigh 185. I needed a Large, and the sleeves were a bit long, so I just rolled them.

I am honestly, a cheapskate, so when I saw this jacket on sale back in 2004, I bought it because it looked cool. I got lots of compliments on it. I lost the jacket a couple months later and immediately bought another at full price, which is completely out of character for me. The jacket is TOTALLY WINDPROOF. Since I first bought the jacket, a waist cord was added to keep drafts from coming up from underneath; they also added straps on the cuffs to keep drafts from coming up the sleeves. The jacket wicks water great, but is not meant to keep you dry in a downpour. Wind doesn't stand a chance when you're downhill skiing...it's TOTALLY WINDPROOF. This jacket is great almost everywhere; around town or on the slopes. You need at least 2, maybe 3. By the way, a friend eventually found my lost jacket and I started collecting them ever since.

The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket is a very nice jacket. I haven't really had much of a chance to use it so I can't say much about its actual performance. I can say that it is very well made with great attention to detail. My only complaint is that to get a chest size that fit me I had to order one size up so my sleeve and the bottom hem are a little long. Do yourself a favor and actually measure your chest, arms, etc and use the chart to see what size you are going to need. I can live with the extra length because I will use it mountain biking sometimes and the extra length in the sleeves will be a plus. Altrec's price on the blue one that I got was great and shipping was fast.

I love this jacket. In the first week I had it, I wore it to Fenway to see a Red Sox game, at the end of September. We were down front, near home plate, when it started to pour buckets! My hat & head got soaked, but my Apex Bionic kept me dry and warm. I'm amazed at the protection level it provides for such a light jacket. Nice looking too.

Great for the run up the lake or down the river during spring, when the weather can and does change at the drop of hat. At 45 to 60 mph keep wind out and me warm. When light rain would start did not have to change into rain suit.

This is the jacket I wanted for Christmas...I needed a warm jacket, even in Tallahassee Florida it gets cold, and the last two weeks have been record setting cold, and this jacket was just what I needed to get to class and to the baseball field...perfect. I'm 6'2, 175 and a large fits perfect. I tested this jacket out yesterday while cross country skiing. Temperature, 10 degrees, wind 25 to 30 mph, otherwise "nasty". All I had was a long sleeve running shirt, hooded sweatshirt, and the "bionic" as an outer layer. I was out for about an hour and was able to work up a sweat. Great jacket! Altrec also had the best price, fast shipping and best sight to get around on. Will definitely buy from again!

I have long arms, being 6'2" tall, and this jacket fits great with longer sleeves than most jackets.The cut is perfect with just enough room underneath for layering. I was doing early season work at the mountain last week in a downpour and stayed dry and warm. The style is bomb. Get one, Why Worry, Be Happy!

Fits well. Long arms. That's good, since I'm 6' 1". Waterproof. Lightweight, but warm. Good pockets. I much prefer the fabric to standard fleece, which pills and looks ugly after a while. Two features I particularly like -- a waist cincher, and velcro on the end of the sleeves which cinches them around wrist. Nice colors, too. I can see using this as a three season jacket (not summer).

Really nice jacket. Got it for a trip to Russia because I wanted something warm and light, and that is exactly what I got. It is extremely warm and lightweight. They do run big in the sleeves so I went with a Large where I normally wear a XL, but you can't go wrong with this jacket.

I went camping last winter and happened to borrow one of these jackets from a friend. I loved it so much that I bought a black one for myself.
Well I enjoyed my black one so much that I decided I needed another color, so I bought a red one.
I wear a t-shirt under my jacket and that's it. It shields of the rain like water on a duck.

Wind doesn't really blow all that hard here. If it did the palm trees would fall over and kill most of us. But the Altrec price was too good pass up. One fellow commented that it was similar to scuba diving suit material & I tend to agree. A jacket to be proud to have wind or no. Thanks again Altrec.

This is my second Apex Bionic. Of all the North Face products I own, these are by far the best. Good for temperatures 25-50, it is generally windproof. My only complaint is that the sleeves seem to run kind of long for the respective size of the jacket, but it is only a minor complaint.

I first bought this jacket in Fall 2007 in advance of the Minnesota winter. I was attracted to it by it's excellent fit, it's wind-proofing and to it's moderate water proofing. It has not let me down. It folds neatly into a daypack for temporary relief from unexpected showers as an outer layer. It excels however in windy conditions either as an outer layer up to about 30 mph but also as a mid layer when the gales are howling. Excellent thermal properties allows it to be used as a midlayer whilst skiing, or even as an outer layer on the milder days in SE Minnesota. I am not as keen on the colors for 08/09 so I am buying up two more for the year ahead.
On a note of caution, it is an excellent fit for the slim / average build. If above average build, it might be worth trying it on first. That withstanding, I am happy to get this my fullest endorsement.

I wanted a jaket for the Spring and live in the upper Midwest. Weather goes from rainy and 40 degrees to 20 degrees and snowy in a day. This Jacket performed perfectly where I wasn't too hot, kept the moisture out, and was very warm on windy days. It runs a bit large so try one on at the local sports store before ordering online. I have a Mountain Hardware heavy Fleece I wear an XL in and I stuck with a large in this jacket. Sleeves are a bit long, but have velcro wrist snuggers to keep them from getting annoying. Love the chest pocket and use it for my iPod. Overall great coat.

I bought this jacket 2 months ago & have been really pleased with it. It functions well in a variety of weather conditions making it a very flexible choice. It keeps you warm & is rain-resistant. The jacket seemed a little stiff to start off but became more comfortable after a wash. For what it's worth it also seems resistant to stains. I highly recommend it.

This jacket has an amazing fit for both outdoor and casual settings. Relatively light weight but keeps you very warm even in pretty cold conditions (I wear it for most all of winter in NC). Only downside is it let's strong winds through since it's a shorter jacket. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs. and I wear a medium.

This jacket is amazingly warm for its weight, and keeps absolutely all wind away away from the body. It is meant to fit closely and is very nicely styled. For colder temperatures it is best paired with a fleece under layer, or used itself as an insulator beneath a heavier coat. This is definitely the best jacket I have ever owned.

Great jacket, works in all but the highest wind. Anything at 30 mph or above and you will feel the breeze cut through the jacket. Seems a little stiff at first. The sleeves on the jacket run long.
